What to expect
Might be trading in the manual 17 Z w/29500 miles. For a 2020 GMC 1500 AT4. What should I expect the dealer to offer me for the car? What would be the least y’all would take for it?

I'd get something other than an AT4. I own a 2019 Silverado 1500 and this platform of trucks are plagued with issues. I'd personally would go with Ram. I should have. Only issue I've seen from them is an issue with the gear selector.
Look at https://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/for...verado-sierra/ and glance at the troubleshooting section...... Dealer is going to low ball you. See what Kelly Blue Book says and you'll know what it's worth and how much they'll try to cut you. FYI, if you plan to off road the truck. Know it's diff cannot be locked, it basically spins and spins then finally realizes it needs to lock it and does so. Not a great design for an "off road" truck like the AT4. |

I am going to guess $42K trade in value. Maybe $43K

Since it’s a 2017, almost 4 years old now, I would tend to agree with Stephen! Good luck.

The difference between a Z71/X31 and Trail Boss/AT4 is that the Trail Boss/AT4 gets the factory 2" lift with monotube shocks (good but not great shocks) and different wheels and tires. That's all. The Z71/X31 and Trail Boss/AT4 both have the same 4x4, same hill decent, same transfer case, same (crappy) G80 diff and so on.
The Trail Boss/AT4 might have some other non off road features like body paint match bumpers, more speakers, etc. But nothing that you can't add to a Z71/X31. Not trying to deter you from your choice but I was considering a Trail Boss then did a little more reading and found that I could save money with a Z71 rather than going after a Trail Boss. If you want a luxury truck, go get a Ram. Seeing as you're looking at GMC. For the same money you could get a nice one, might even be able to get a Power Wagon which is a proper off road truck. |

I'm a buyer for a dealership in Houston. I would pay $45-47k for that car. NADA says clean trade is $42xxx for your car and MMR (Manheim) shows average wholesale price is $45k, but with market day supply being so low, I recently had purchased my personal vehicle (17 ZL1) from another dealership and paid several thousand over wholesale. They are going to offer you $42ish trade and show you a tax savings of $2700 for a "total" trade in value of $45K. I'd recommend submitting for trade offers online before you go to any dealership....if they are smart, they would be more aggressive on their trade values to get you in. The industry is having to cater to customers that do not want to spend time inside of the dealership due to covid, so they are investing a lot money on tools to get most of the buying process done online.......use it to your advantage! Cheers - Jay
