My theory from a previous thread on future numbers of the new SS... What do you think?
The power to weight ratio of the new SS is around 0.12431 based off 455hp and a curb weight of 3660 (see below). the Zl1 is 0.14077 so the SS will be close but a solid 12.3 hell even a 12.5 is a solid improvement for the SS! I think the 0-60 is going to be crazy fast or in the low 4s... traction and smaller wheels plus the 8 speed will determine that. I am getting very excited for 2017-18... another way to look at it is.... get your base weight for the new SS... so lets say 200lbs - 3860lbs (crub weight of the current SS) gets you 3660... cars 3000-4000lbs will roughly see 10hp per 100lbs. soo 455hp+20= 475hp... so basically you should have time similar to a current SS running 475hp (at the motor) with this theory. so all in all you're seeing a increase form 426hp to 475hp ... so 39hp increase over the previous gen. Find a current SS with intake, exhaust and a tune and you have the new camaro numbers...maybe... |

Unfortunately, there will be frost warnings in Hell before you see a Camaro have more HP than the top shelf Corvette, Hellcat or not.
The Corvette Lobbyists in GM will make sure of that. I hope I'm wrong but if past history is any indicator, I'm betting this won't happen. Given that, we may see a ~625 HP Camaro of some variant.

I think the C6 looks like a watered down version of the C5 appearance wise. I'm very pleased with my current Camaro and have no plans to trade.

No 6th for me, Its a nice generic sports car with no ties to a Camaro except for Badges. We are on the GT350 list for my wife!

I had no intention to purchase a 6th Gen but I am in awe over the 6th Gen I absolutely love it and I will be adding one to the garage to sit with the 2001 and 2010.
I will wait for 2017 and see what a 50th Anniversary looks like or see if they offer a Z/28, 1LE, or ZL1 before I order my SS. Waiting to see what option packages they will offer but it will be a 2SS w/ RS pkg, A8, HUD, heated/cooled seats, dual mode exhaust. Not sure color but I thought I saw a swatch for a black granite metallic but I will wait for all of the option packages and colors.

------- Regardless, I am happy with GM and the Camaro team. I think they did a very good job with the 6th gen and I am eagerly looking forward to additional Camaro performance models to be released. If GM wanted to dominate the quarter mile they could do it tomorrow. It is about the total experience, and Al Oppenheiser and his team recognize it, and that is why car review after car review have consistently picked the ZL1 compared to its counterparts of the GT500 and the SRT8. My only disappointment was no 7 speed manual. Hopefully that will be rectified with the next gen ZL1/1LE. |

While the ZL1 temporarily had the HP lead over the Stingray, the Z06 was already being tested.
I'm not saying it is impossible but I would be stunned to see any Camaro that will have more HP than the Top Dog C7. When the Grand National GNX was spanking the Corvette boys back in '87, that was done with less 'advertised' HP. The Corvette team has never forgotten that and if the Corvette is to remain GM's 'halo' car, it will not be surpassed by any Camaro. For me, a C7 vs a Camaro is apples and oranges so why GM has continuously held the HP back on the Camaro is beyond me. Then, when GM does build a great track car like the Z/28 they price it astronomically high and out of the reach of many. Hmmm.... $75K Camaro or a new Vette (for less money)? Seems ridiculous to me. But - that's GM for you!

Huge fan of the new GT350. Love my car but always will be a mustang guy. Also I think the new mustang looks better then the new 6 Gen camaro. Problem is that, try getting a new Gt350 without paying a huge premium. Expect that car to go 20k plus over sticker and to even get one is going to be tough as hell. My dealership and a couple near by are only getting one and there all spoken for. To sad!!!! Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk |

well cars are really not apples or oranges ironically they come in model years. I was thinking about buying one this year will be the two options I have so it is the comparison I have to use really unless I wait till 2017.

No gen VI for me, I have a 12 ZL1 and a 14 Stingray. Both fun but the ZL1 is faster. That's going to kill the vette guys but it's true. The new camaro weighs nearly #700 more than the stingray. Trading up would be a step back IMO for speed, it's likely .3-.4 slower. I have to say I do like the appearance of the new Camaro.
Now in 2017 or 2018 with an anticipated performance model coming could change my mind, until then I love the ZL1! |
