lithium battery from china test saves 33.5lbs
I have wanted to try one of these for awhile. it is kind of expensive and being from china who knows if it will last but what the heck. I will give it a try.
first the weight. 48lbs vs 14 1/2lbs. that is quite a bit of savings and the whole reason for the swap. the part number for the one I got is 27/66 and it bolted right in the car. I got rid of the strap over the top since this battery is quite a bit lighter and not likely to come out of the mount. I did have to open up the mount a little to get it to insert farther. I ordered it off of ebay (from china). got it in about 2 weeks. it was well packed and nicer looking/feeling than I expected. now for the price. $450 shipped. I think it could be had for a little less if you got it off of alibaba. I will post up when/if it fails or any problems I have. it is advertised as having a battery management system and a back up charge to start your car if you let it die.

Looking forward to your results. Do you have the cca and mah on that one?
U can tell you from my experience with a lithium in mine, is that it needs to be on a charger if the car sits now more 3-4 days. Sub freezing temps are supposed to be harder on them, but it works fine for me Did you get a charger?

Would a regular battery tender work, or does it need a special charger because lithium?

It needs a special charger. I have one in my bike, original battery is 9 pounds, the lithium is 1.5… Carries more CCA, spins the starter significantly faster than the old battery.

My plan is to disconnect the battery if the car will be sitting. Lithium battery’s lose very little change while sitting

Thanks for sharing. Keep us informed how it goes with the Camaro's "smart" lead-acid charging system.

that being said lithium batteries are not designed to be float charged. once they are full you are suppose to remove the voltage or I should say the charger is suppose to remove the voltage. the little pamphlet it came with talks about a bms system that protects from over charging so maybe that takes care of it. I know the much more expensive batteries have this feature.

Hmm, I've seen the Antigravity brand battery with the restart feature and it sucked in a Gen6 Camaro. Did not play well with this charging system. The owner then bought another Antigravity battery that does not have the restart crap and it works much better as far as I've heard.

I will be going to a lithium for weight savings in mine also. I had a Tahoe that had a huge stereo in it, 30,000 watts, and ran nothing but lithium in it and it was a godsend.
