Strut Tower Brace
Can anyone vouch to a driving/handling improvement with a strut tower brace on the ZL1?
I could only find one that fits this vehicle with the SC, it’s carbon fiber and not all that expensive. |

BMR makes one that fits over the Stock lid and the NX aftermarket lid.
IMHO, A strut tower brace is for looks only...I have driven mine hard, with and without the bar and I really can't tell a difference! Last edited by Intimidator; 09-17-2018 at 07:38 PM. |

The Gen 6 chassis is so torsionally rigid I doubt you can really feel the difference.

I was a huge Impreza fan boy in the 90's.. Gone off them since I had an 09 STI.. The GD was really the last of the good ones IMHO.
Freaking love my BRZ though

Strut tower braces are really not needed for these cars (coupes). They add more weight than anything and these suckers are already very rigid. You would not notice the difference.
Nothing at all wrong with them, but it's not really a need.

The NX lid for me is 100% Sound and Looks...you do get alittle better air flow from stock...has all the hook-ups for Laughing Gas, even though I'm not going that way now!
Clear Ceramic coat it, and no heat sink either! With this lid, the blower sings...and you can hear every note! |

I had a 79’ scirocco I put a ton of money into back when they made all kinds of fancy mod stuff for them, the strut brace made a night and day difference in rigidity and handling, certainly before the days of computer modeling and finite element analysis. Thanks for sharing your assessment. Last edited by DANACO; 09-17-2018 at 10:12 PM. |
