Ss 6m fluid?
Hey all, first post! About 6 months into ownership of my 17 ss 1le and am looking to change the transmission fluid. I've seen some posts of people putting atf in the manual trans and others suggesting synchro mesh or redline mtf. Thoughts on what I should get? I live in the south so it's not much below 30 degrees f. Thanks!

The stock fluid seems to perform poorly especially during cold Wx.

I have RP MaxATF in mine so it satisfies the warranty requirement. No doubt there are better fluids out there but they will not meet the Dex3 requirement. Once I eclipse the warranty period I will go with a synchromesh fluid. With that said the MaxATF has done very well for 30+ track hours and is better in the cold weather.

They were designed to accept ATF... to make things easier I guess.
I put RP Synchromax into mine at about 5k miles and noticed a big difference in shift feel and transmission heat. The shifter is more consistent, especially at lower temps, and engagement is slicker. The transmission also runs about 10 degrees cooler during long drives (3+ hours) with some back roads and highway pulls. I used to use ATF in my previous manual cars, T56 and TR6060, and I think Synchromax is worth the extra $. It removes that last bit of vagueness these modern TR6060 boxes have. I do have to say that I didn't know it had an effect on warranty... I'll call a Chevy dealer and ask, just to get a bit more info.

Just switched to Redline D4. A noticable improvement in cold shifting. Very smooth when warm. I like it.

What about the Mobil 1 ATF fluid. It worked really good in my 2011 m6 car. It noticably shifted way better. Was going to use it in my 2018 m6 unless if I really should not.

On my 2016 1SS, the trans was low on fluid. The trans shifted OK, not great and always kept pretty cool (for manual trans fluid) even on track. I went to go add and/or remove fluid to add some Redline, but found the trans to be about a quarter (25%) of a quart low.

I used royal purple as well. Call it whatever but imo, it is always good to change your oil, tranny fluid, and diff after the break in period. All the sharp edges and burs, or unecesary rubbing should be worn down by then, and I don't want that stuff in my fluid. My dealer asked me why I was doing it too, lol!

Reference this thread (scroll to later pages for torque specs): http://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=492814
I used the fluid GM recommends in the owners manual as well as their service procedure (except rather than using the temp sensor as a drain, I removed the crossmember and used the real drain plug on the passenger side/rear, since I was replacing the fill and drain plugs with a magnetic plug from Dimple).
