Annoying messages.
So after my first 150 miles in 1LE I can say I am very annoyed with the amount of messages on a dashboard. Is there any way to at least limit them?
Why everything needs to take a whole screen? |

I'm not sure if your question is rhetorical. The messages are there because no automaker in the USA is going to take a risk that you're going to sue them. Have you driven any other modern cars? They all have annoying messages, chimes, and warnings.
Other than the usual bluetooth pairing, what messages are you getting? Wait, you're coming from a MINI. That car had an infuriating amount of chimes and warnings. The Camaro is chill in comparison.

Getting a skip shift eliminator is one way to get rid of one type of message

Parking brake and 1 to 4 shift are the most annoying. On MINI if all was good I did not have to deal with any messages.
And so we are on the same page, I like a car, still learning it, still getting used to a way you look out of it. Just trying to see if I maybe missed some setting which could get rid of some of them. Another thing I could not find is to keep miles (as road signs are in miles) but use a metric for anything else like temperature but it looks like it's all or nothing. In MINI I could pick and choose. At least a 24h clock is an independent option. I probably need like a month at least to get used to this car so just asking for what I noticed is getting in my way. I'd love to get some kind of a "reflash" to be able to customize this stuff. |

The chimes and gongs in the F56 MINI were so infuriating I got the eSYS cable and software and re-coded the BCM. Shut that damn thing up. The thing is the BMW F-chassis BCM code is so complicated and used across every car on that platform, internationally, that they had to make it adjustable. The Camaro uses a shared infotainment too but it's much simpler. Remember it's GM, not BMW, so it's not going to be complicated for the sake of complication.
The Skip shift message can be made to not show up if you get an ECU tune with HP Tuners. There's a setting in the flash tool GUI to make it not go active. However there's no way to turn it off through the in-car GUI. I agree it's not ideal, but this is the world we live in where warnings are baked into our legal system.

Yup, true.
But that's why I root all of my phones and sometimes use tricks on cars to get rid of them if possible. As well I have to figure out how to set my car and how to make it quick. In MINI I had to press sport every time I was starting it as an accelerator mapping in normal mode sucked for heel and toe but that was it. I've got used to it so I will get use to Camaro I'm sure. Just hoped there is a way to make it quieter (warnings wise). So you are saying there is reflash which could help but I would have to probably worry about it every time my dealer decides to flash it during any of scheduled services? Is there a dongle with a software I can buy or it requires a visit to a shop? Edit: Disregard please, silly me. Just needed a simple Google: https://www.hptuners.com/products/vcmsuite_vehicles.php So when they say "17 Camaro 6.2" it covers our 1LEs? |

The messages do get annoying, and I really wish I could get rid of the throttle cut when the clutch is depressed (throttle by wire intervening and giving it 1/16th throttle instead of 1/2 like my foot is telling it).

[QUOTE=Rafal;9780350]I heard it's not eliminating a massage, just does not force your lever to 4. So how it is?[/QUOTE
I use my right foot liberally in proactively eliminating the 1-4... But yeah, the messages are annoying. And the "pages" of what to display on the dash are not customize-able, can't just reset your MPG without resetting the whole trip data...Brake/gas pedals are too far apart...Small annoying things that I am noticing the more I drive it. |

I will have to be a conrarian here:
As the parking brake is electric, I welcome the messages confirming it is on/off just in case the system were to fail. The messages do go off by themselves anyway, so I don't find them intrusive, but informative. Besides, they only happen when the e-brake gets activated/disactivated, which obviously is not very often. As far as the 1-4 shift, I welcome it as well, as forcing the gear to 2nd may damage things. But I have a simple fix to this, called my R foot As to the ability to customize various gauges and have some in metric and some in imperial: I bet that could potentially confuse the heck of most driving public, who doesn't tend to read any manuals (ever). Case in point: the driving modes et al. There is a setting for volume re chimes etc if excessive noise is an issue. |

Drive faster. Keeps that message from coming up. I see that little message pop up and I just stand on the throttle a little more.
