The scariest thing about my Camaro SS...

Is that it's hard to keep my foot off the gas. It's not hard to play with BMWs or Mustangs where I live. I fear tickets or worse.

The key to surviving is not to race anybody on the street... This is when your problems can grow exponentially... I only get on it when there is nobody around...

PS. I get a ton of mustangs that want to race my Z/28. I let them fly by... No interest.

I have this same concern for when I get mine. I don't have any desire to race anyone, I just want to do some spirited driving.

I don't race anybody on the street. Too easy to get in an accident or a ticket. And it's just stupid.

Racing on the track, how ever is super fun!

In some states, I understand excessive speeding and or street racing is a felony offense. My last ticket on the street was for $265 and I had just slowed from well over 125 down to about 90...the highway patrolman asked me how fast I had been going since he was using instant on and was caught sleeping on the button. Needless to say, I didn't answer honestly. I will never do that again...ever. Save it for the closed course.

After years of owning a tuner car and a sports car now this muscle/sports car I can tell you there are a lot of clowns out there.

It's dangerous especially in this car to open up on a public roads light jabs kicks my rear end out on demand. Best thing to do is ignore them they can think what they like these cars are incredible and don't need any proving. Ask them to meet up in the next parking lot and feed this to them and watch them cry.

Patience, lots of it. Get to the track and you'll have safe, legal fun. It won't take long for the Mustang owners to realize that racing you on the street is a waste of time as they watch you walk them hard at the track.

Same. I admit, I speed all the time, but it's usually in places where I know there's no pedestrian traffic. For example, service roads running parallel to a highway are fun. I keep an eye on my HUD and make sure I keep it brief.

Once you start indulging people who want to race on public roads, you'll learn there are only 2 outcomes:
  1. You win, put yourself at risk, and now you've got an agitated driver near you who wants a second go.
  2. You lose, some part of your manhood gets hurt, and then you find yourself being the one to do the egging on.
Believe me, as much as you want option #3 to be for you to win handily, get a bow and praise from the other driver, it just doesn't happen. Spontaneous street races don't even have any "finish marker" per se, so in the end, even if you're faster to 60 the other person is more likely to decide in their mind that they will "win" so long as they pass you at some point, so they will just keep mashing the petal as long as it takes to do that.

In life, you'll find that the best way to effectively piss of a hot head or somebody who wants to race is to ignore them. They want a reaction. I wish I could say I've ignored people all the time, but a few people end up getting under my skin, and I wind up having to reflect on it later.
