Snow drivers.. weighting rear?

Has anyone put sand bags or something in? Has it improved traction?

Proper winter tires are a better idea.

I did!

I bought 2 tupperware containers, and put 180 lbs worth of safety stone in them. Didn't want to make a mess of the trunk.
(i also have winter tires on my car)
Skip to 5:12 to see what i did

Love me a good set of winter tires.

Weight is not necessary because we're not dealing with pickup trucks, or solid-rear axle cars...that and the weight balance is good in these things.

Just keep T/C on...car works brilliantly.

You're definitely gonna want a dedicated snow tire. I used to drive my 05 Mustang in the winters when I lived in New York. I did it on all season with probably about 150lbs of cat litter in the trunk. It was cheap and if you got stuck you could always pour it down around the rear wheels for extra traction.

I flopped back and forth for a while, the issue is traction, and the weight can't hurt, i spent $50 on the weight and containers so i can just lift them out in the summer and there is no mess what so every.

When accelerating from a dead stop, start in second gear. Then keep the engine as low as possible in the RPM range on each gear (If you have the automatic keep it in manual mode at all times).

Using Snow/ice mode is a better idea.

Even these cars are nose-heavy by a few percent, so a LITTLE extra weight in the trunk will help get you moving.

But too much carries the risk of having the tail being harder to catch if it does start coming around on you. Whether it's harder on you directly or harder for Stabilitrak to cope with is irrelevant.

I wouldn't add more than about 100 lbs. The car in my sig has never had even that much added over its OE trunk load.
