Your transmission problems sound normal to me assuming this is an A8. I believe all A8 owners have experienced the weird 1-2 shift when the transmission is cold. Mine will be going along fine in first and then decide to shift to second and feel sort of like it goes into neutral for 1-2 seconds. Sometimes mine thumps into reverse and sometimes it takes a while for it to find reverse lol (seems to take a couple seconds for it to actually shift into reverse after it’s selected). Usually only thumps when i am holding the brake about to back down an incline. The only other issue i’ve noticed in my own is the shake at idle. My friend had the same thing and I believe the dealer told him it’s normal. These are sports cars after all, not refined luxury machines

The reverse thudding should be normal as my other GM cars do the same thing. And when the car and fluids are cold, it will be more shaky and the trans will feel more sticky. And the engine shake is normal especially when cold, there's a 455hp v8 right in front of you (; Just let the car warm up and drive it a few miles before you open her up. For the alignment though, I have the same problem. Mine always felt it pulled very slightly to the left, I then got into an accident, got a new alignment, and it still does the same thing.

My car does this most times if I shift from Park to Drive. I find that if I slide the shifter slow from P to D, it doesn't do it, or is a lot less noticeable.
