Thumbs up RT660 track pressures?

Did some searching, wasn’t able to come up with anything particularly definitive. I have 2017 1LE and just went to a square 305 setup on 10.5 x 19 Apex wheels and they are wearing RT660 tires. I am headed to Watkins next week and wanted to see if anyone had a good starting place for hot pressures on a road course.

Thanks!

I don't know those tires in particular, but with most street tires, you want to target 36-ish psi hot. You start lower since the psi will rise as you get heat into the tires. I'd probably try going out at 30 psi first session of the day and bleed off as necessary throughout the day.

Maybe someone who knows the characteristics of the RT660 will chime in.

Edit: There is also a dedicated road course subforum

OK I run these alot at the track and 26psi COLD PRESSURE works best for me. You dont really want them to get over 33-34PSI pressure hot.

My tires on street are at 30-32lbs warm, on strip 24-26lbs. Eagle F1 SC3

Obviously tires can vary not sure what the 660 would require.

660s like pressure. I just ran at Sebring last weekend and with 85-93F ambient, started them at 29psi. They came up to 36psi by the end of the session.

I start the SC3's lower, 27-28psi, depending on ambient.

I’m always starting out at around 26psi on the SC3,s and then keep close as can to 32 from there. Tires are wearing nicely.

I run 32/28 for autox but this only works with a stiffer front bar and a lot of camber. With a stock setup you'd want a good bit more pressure, I'd agree with somewhere around 35 hot.

RT660 are really autox/TT tires. They warm up super fast, like just a few corners, and are very grippy but will fall off rapidly at higher temps. I was just at High Plains in CO and a friend with an M3 was not having a great time with them running 25 min sessions, although temps were in the 90's. IMO it's really hard to beat the OEM tires unless you want to go with the SC3R or some other ~100 tw R comp tire. My SC3s were excellent and maintained good grip even towards the end of a 25 min session at 95 degrees.
