How did you discover the crack, any driving indications?

Do you have the GM p/n and manufacture month/date?

Thanks
That's what I was thinking, too. Clear evidence of no impact.

Don't worry Joe, we make you another one really good. he he

Not really an appropriate response to a thread where people are trying to advocate for your safety.

I feel like sanity and safety are directly related, so I disagree... response is incredibly appropriate.

These fools want to start a witch hunt of xenophobic intent because your wheel cracked, I mean we drive over potholes and expansion joints every day and all kinds of shit and everyone can be judge and jury from a tiny cross section of a wheel that’s been cleaned of any potential evidence? REALLY?! No. Be sane, don’t go lambasting companies or countries with exactly no evidence.

And to further support what I’m saying, the dealer agreed. There’s over 20K miles on your car as well... be realistic.

China is no friend of mine or the United States. I call their poor manufacturing quality out every time I can. They manufactured baby formula that had a poison called melanine in it. They manufactured and sold poisoned dog food that they knew was poisoned. The Chinese government does not care. They hack and steal manufactuiring plant blueprints, build exact factories in China, then persuade American companies to move there so they can pay workers (and prisoners) a fraction of a decent wage. Screw China.

The dealer simply wanted to sell me a $639 wheel. Which is ridiculous. I can buy American made forged wheels for less per wheel.

I've never had a wheel crack on any vehicle. I have a diesel truck that is driven hard and has 350,000 miles on it. No cracked wheels.

I am going to try to get it warrantied. If I can great. If not, oh well I will buy some quality wheels.

I am a retired American who worked for a living. Why do you defend big corporations and especially China?

If you'd increase your sight beyond your nose you'd read some of the facts about Chinese manufacturing.

Here's a example of defective Chinese Alloy Wheels
Quote:
Impact testing evidenced pronounced substandard, dangerous manufacturing and performance results including separation of the rim edge, separation of the disk from the rim, cracking in the rim edge under normal pressure, and through-thickness cracks.

Example of Chinese Quality Fade and Poor Manufacturing
Quote:
Experts say most cheap or counterfeit wheels from China are made from a blend of scrap alloy and raw material — but alloy wheels should be made solely from raw material to guarantee their strength.

Recalled Defective Chinese Auto Parts

Mr. Ditlow said his review convinces him that too many Chinese companies are unfamiliar with — or don’t care about — safety standards in the United States and thus don’t meet them.

I can continue with facts but I believe that this will suffice.

Yes Chinese manufacturers either do not know or do not care about safety standards. When the tainted Chinese dog food thing hit about 15 years ago, and hundreds of American pets were killed or sickened, they had the Chinese manufacturers at a press conference and all the CEOs looked perplexed as to why people were pissed.

My local town Chevy dealer told me that it was not covered, and it would be $639 plus tax.

The out of town dealer where I bought my car called me after 30 minutes and said "we ordered your new wheel it will be here Tuesday." I said "Is it a warranty situation?" Service tech said "Yes it is."

HMMMMMMMM.......
