I understand the transition to EV although I’m bittersweet about it. While it’s debatable whether an EV will ever stir the soul like an ICE vehicle, I have no doubt that within the next ~5 years, EVs with >ZL1 performance in every metric (they’re obviously already there acceleration wise) will be available at inflation adjusted prices that are comparable to a gen6 ZL1. Range and charging infrastructure will get there eventually as well.
Europe and China are outlawing the sale of ICE vehicles within the next 10 – 12 years. I’m sure their combined market share for domestic automakers is larger than in the US. I believe I read that, currently, China alone accounts for just slightly less of GM’s sales than the US.
Climate change is a global issue and GM, Ford, et al are global companies. It would be economic suicide for them not to embrace the EV transition. Guys like us would certainly continue to buy ICE vehicles for our fun cars, but we will probably make the switch to EVs for our daily driver/commuter cars. It will simply make more sense, it’s a better mousetrap when viewed as a conveyance to get from Point A to Point B.
I just wish they would ease up on enthusiasts during the salad days of ICE. Let us have our one last hurrah. If the entire Camaro6 membership was highly modded and running catless, we would probably do far less damage to the environment that a modest apartment complex fire, not to mention a forest fire.

Nope, my 392 is just fine. I have all the engagement I need out of it, but it doesn't make it not true.

I'm thinking the best way to participate in the EV gimmick is to lease, not purchase one. Turn it back in after 3 years and jump into another. Of course you end up with a car payment "forever" but you factor that into your budget and decide if that's for you.
