2017 Camaro SS 1LE Spoiler Removal

having some severe paint issues with the stock 1le spoiler / trunk . both right and left side of the of the trunk there is about a small peice of the trunk you can see and the paint is just slowly but surely falling off / disappearing. I've read on 5th gens having that issue and taking back to dealer to get repainted but idk if i feel like i want my car at the dealership, debating about going with a carbon fiber trunk, anyone having issues with taking off the three piece setup with the ss 1LEs? i'm more concerned about the two small peices on the fender being bolted in or are they held by adhesive tape?

The two pieces on the end are peel-and-stick, utilizing 3M adhesive.

If they are installed correctly, the peel-and-stick is just there to keep them in place while the real adhesive cures. They are supposed to be glued on with what basically amounts to windshield glue.

Hmm. I never heard about that last part. I’ve seen several folks with 1LEs remove their caps and essentially, they just heated them up and pulled them off.

DOW Betaseal U400 HV is what is recommended in the Service Manual to bond the outer sections to the quarter panel paint. Post pics after you get them off. They winglets are shipped with the "junk in the trunk" and are put on at the dealership.

Mine were mounted with some type of double sided tape from the dealer. They were installed very poorly and looked terrible. I pulled them and used this to remount them:

Mine too, there is gap in mine big enough for me to stick my finger in, I'm going to redo it soon.

I tried ignoring it. But exterior cosmetics are one of those things that just drive me nuts because I see it everytime I get in the car. Honestly, it was super easy and I wish I'd done it sooner. Mine not only had a gap but they weren't flush with the middle portion.
