If you travel on the highways, it's a point of interest for Texas DPS officers. City police and county sheriffs don't seem to pull over for it much.

Out in Temple Texas I got pulled over non stop by the same trooper (on my route to work). Had to put one on but used zip ties and I do not see him around now so I may remove it. Pretty much if the cop wants to mess with you then you will get pulled over.

pretty much it just gives them an excuse to pull you over. texas state troopers have nothing better to do. doubt you will have much problem with local cops unless they are just assholes by nature. some particular small town cops are this way they seem to think they have something to prove....

Lived in the DFW area for 30 years, never had a front plate on any of my numerous cars, never got pulled over. Got pulled over once in Waco for no front plate in the early 80s.

Austin area here. Back when i had a nice vette i got pulled over once for it. Then the same a-hole cop kept pulling me over and over for whatever he could find me doing something wrong. He was actually a state trooper by the way. Maybe they are worse.

Maybe I will just ziptie it when I take long road trips and remove it when I'm local.

Sto-n-Sho for me. Got pulled over by a very zealous Deputy....Why NO front plate? he asked.
Oh heck Man! I forgot to install it, when I uncovered the car....pulling plate out from passenger side floor. If I can get out I'll slide it in...OK? He allowed that...complimented the car...away I went. DO know....IF You are in a two plate State...NO front plate is pure probable cause to be stopped. Anything else found during the stop is GTG. I'm not a drugger or drinker....I have nothing to hide. |

I also live in the Houston area I have gone 2 years without a plate and no problems, I asked a policeman one time if cops really care about the front plate and he said it is low on their priority list and he would not pull anybody over for it.
However when i travel the interstates i do use my Sto-n-Show I think the DPS troopers would pull me over to give a reason to search for anything else. |

Got pulled over one time many years ago in Dallas. Been scared not to run one ever since.
The advantage to leaving it off is you will be less exposed to automatic plate readers. The disadvantage is that it gives the cop a legitimate reason to pull you over if he notices it missing. The ACLU wants legislation to limit the use of plate readers to law enforcement only. As things stand right now, I have seen commercial vehicles driving through shopping mall parking lots recording the plates of every car in the parking lot. |

Normally ulgy as hell on any other vehicle, I think a front plate will help the looks of the 2019 silverado, errr, malibu, errr, 2019 SS refresh I mean!

If your any where between Waco and Temple Texas you got high chances. But non of them actually fine you just give you a warning. For me.... well same guy stalked me, it felt like. He pulled me over 3 times then said next time hes not letting me off. Same with my GTO that I had, officer in a small country town. Sto-n-Show would deff be a good investment.
