Any inside information on GM new car delivery? Ordered a 2021 2SS 1LE. Salesman at dealership told me the car I ordered was built and “awaiting transport” over 3 weeks ago. Now sure what is going on. Salesman is no help beyond the above statement. Said the computer chip delay was not the issue since the build was completed.

From what I read, the 1LE's go to an outside vendor to have the hood wrapped.

So it might be built, but it's waiting on that before being shipped.

Also, it might sit a while before shipping. As I recall, I had to wait 2 weeks from build completion until it was on a train

Over the years when I have read a lot of these threads. In most cases... It seems as if the cars do end up setting on the shipping lots a long time. Seems stupid to just let them set, especially if they are already sold. Maybe the logistics of getting a load of these on a truck going the right direction takes more thought than meets the eyes.

“Chip issue”- From what I understand, production has stopped on certain models due to a computer chip supply issue.

It's not unheard of for a car to sit in the local yard for 3 weeks., When I ordered my 2011 SS, it sat in the yard for the longest time. I nor the dealer could get an answer from ANYONE as to why the delay. After waiting 4 weeks without a word from anyone, I canceled the order (the local dealer understood my frustration), got my deposit back, and found a similar car at a local dealer (it didn't have all the options I wanted) and bought it.

The next day I got a call from the original dealer saying my car just shipped.
Go figure.

Evidently there had been a truckers strike that was settled just before my car was bought, but since the strike, there was quite a few cars waiting to be shipped, and they
had to be shipped first. Plus they had to wait till there were enough cars needing to be delivered to the same area as me. so that was another wait.

It may be a long wait, but it'll be worth it when it does arrive.

When I was waiting for my car last time I was in contact with Waterman on here and he waited over a year from time of order until he got his car and it sat on the shipping lot for multiple months yes months not weeks.

My 1LE sat for a little over 3 weeks also. It should be leaving there soon.

I ordered my 2021 camaro 2ss back in January in MD as well. I received notification that it’s built and waiting shipment as well, but my dealer told me a couple days ago that mine is effected by the chip shortage. So it’s pretty much a waiting game. They’re supposed to be getting the chips in around mid April supposedly.

My car sat in the shipping yard for 2 months. When Becky D finally was able to track down a reason, it's because someone had tried to break-in to it while it was sitting in the staging lot.


She located another car built exactly the way I ordered and had it sent to me.
