They finally got me!

Last night while in SF at a small concert I came out to my car to find a parking ticket. Of course it was my front license plate. But since it's SFMTA, I'm not sure I actually have to have it signed off, it makes it sound like I can pay the fine and that's it. The wording is varied between the website, the ticket, and other sources. Some say "You can" or "You may" in reference to having it signed off.

$114.. knew this day would come.

$114 for having a parked car with no front plate.

What an awesome state we live in.

Thats BS that they can ticket it while it's parked. My manager got one for the same a year ago on her Escalade.

I think it can only get ticketed while parked on a public street. Won't get one in your own driveway at least...lol....

Or in an LAX airport parking lot...

I always get plate tickets by the parking enforcement and never have to get it signed off. Just pay it and all done. It's only $25 here in Los Angeles

Well just paid the $114 +fees. I'm FIGHTING THE MAN! by paying him my hard earned cash... and not putting the plates on my car.

Yeah it's way too much money, but they are trying to get people like us who don't want to fix it, so they can make money. Because if I fix-it, I only pay $10.

Yup, just called to confirm. The lady was like "you can pay the fine and keep getting tickets" or pay $10 after you have it fixed. I got one in LA as well when I was visiting friends, it was $25 or something like that. Way better deal haha.

And why not just mount the plate? You may have money to burn, but you can't win by protesting. The reasoning here is not logical. Unless you do something to change the law, you will continue to lose.

Why not just get a little 3M two sided tape and stick it on the front bumper. Get it signed off and pay the $10, then pull it off in the parking lot? It won't damage anything and will come right off.

$114 is way better than the $348.50 (or somewhere in that range) I had to pony up for tint because the nice officer checked the "not correctible" box and the judge was nice enough to agree that it was his right to do so.

Isn't it wonderful to live in a money grabbing state? SMH.

Now that COULD be a good thing for you. Save that ticket and offer it as double jeopardy evidence if they ever try to convict you of the same statute again. It's non-correctible as deemed by the government, but you've already paid for the sins of that crime, so....makes sense to me.
