Question ZLE DSSV A10 rear shock?

Just picked up a manual 22 ZLE and I've noticed the ride is a bit more compliant compared to my old '18 ZLE. I saw a few guys suggesting swapping out the rear DSSV shocks for the A10 DSSV shocks but I can't find a single post where someone has done it.

What is the difference between the manual and auto rear dssv shocks and how does it change the ride in the car?

No difference between M6 / A10 Multimatic DSSV. Same suspension setup on all ZLE.

Interesting.. I have never heard of such a difference. Someone with a parts catalog could confirm whether there is any truth to it

Different part numbers for the manual ZLE rear dssv shocks vs the auto ZLE.

Manual ZLE rear dssv shocks part #'s
# 84559877 left
# 84559878 right

Auto ZLE rear dssv shock part #'s
# 84646915 left
# 84646916 right

The price difference between the two is substantial as well.

I think you may be right -- and I'll admit that I'm wrong. I can't believe this has never come up before on the forum -- I've certainly never heard of there being a difference and I couldn't find anything searching. However, I did find this bulletin on the NHTSA website (of all places) that does state:

Quote:
Additional track performance is provided by the Dynamic Suspension Spool Valve (DSSV™) dampers and the way they are mounted to the Camaro. The front struts are manufactured with aluminum bodies instead of steel. The rear damper tuning is different for the ZL1-1LE Automatic Transmission vs. the Manual Transmission car in order to accommodate the quicker shifts in weight transfer.

Good find. I'm on the same boat, can't find info on this anywhere.

Very interesting. We all know the manual ZLE had a 7:16.04 Ring time. My curiosity has me wondering what the A10 ZLE would have done around the Ring with not only a different transmission but now rear dampers that are tuned different.

Not to start an argument but that document sure states many differences between a ZLE and a regular ZL1. I’ll state again when I drove them back to back prior to purchase the ZLE definitely felt so much more fun. More than just the tires.
Yah I now ZL1 owners hear making their car look like a ZLE will chirp that there’s no difference but each to their own opinions. Not saying a ZLE better just was more of what I was looking for when I test drove. And yes my car gets tracked.

Your post has nothing to do with this topic. Weird decision to insert it here.

Coming from you and your ZL1 made to look like a ZLE I’ll take that as a compliment. Long time since I’ve heard from you how’s things?

It was a very informative GM document as to differences I have never seen discussed here, or anywhere.

Now buyers will be able to make a more informed decision when deciding between a ZL1 or ZLE.

There is nothing to argue about either...its just facts from GM.

I also want to thank the OP for revealing the differences between the ZLE auto and 6 speed manual rear DSS....also something I have never seen discussed here.
