20x8.5 Drag radial
What is the best drag radial for a stock lt1 wheel? It’s a stock stick car, if that matters.

Ditto. I was wondering about that same thing for my LT1. So far the only one I’ve found is 275/35/20 but I don’t think it will fit a 8.5 rim. I hope someone can find something that will fit. I really don’t want to buy more rims.

As BUD357 mentioned there are sizes that come close to fitting based on manufacturer recommendation. But your factory wheel is technically too small. If I were in your situation and wanted to keep factory wheels, I’d buy a set of the Nitto’s and rear factory SS wheels. There are plenty of those wheels for sale and at a reasonable price. Here are the 20” tires sizes available for the NT555RII‘s.

Thank you Trochoidal. I guess I will start looking for 20x9.5 carbon flash wheels from an SS

275/35/20 555r2 will fit the 8.5" rim fine. I run a 305/35/20 555r2 on a 9.5" rim and it's fine and been fine for 5yrs now. Never had a issue putting a Nitto on a rim that is .5" narrower then recommended since they tend to run narrow for their size anyway. You will have a slight bulge but it will wear fine and provide a lot more traction then your factory tires.
