Size and Offset HELP!!!! Needed
I have a stock 2016 2SS. I need to replace my OEM tires this spring and plan to get new wheels.
I have settled on the 10x20 ET33 Savini SV-F5 wheels. Through multiple conversations with Savinin the 11" wheels won't fit with the Brembo brakes but the 10" will. I have been reading all of the posts about how the 305/30 tires will fit on the 2016 with no interference. I have looked at the on-line fitment and offset calculators (willtheyfit.com) and I even made my own spreadsheet that calculates overall size based on dia, offset, and tire width/ratio. Everything seems to line up with this wheel and the 305/30 Nitto tire set up. I have also seen the recommendations to relocate the wire harness on multiple posts just in case. I was talking to my local tire shop about proceeding with the order and they happened to have a 20x10 ET35 camaro wheel with a 305/30 Nitto tire so we put it on my rear drivers side and there was clear interference with the wheel well material. I am not interested in having a wear hole in my wheel well but would really like the 305 width. What am I missing here? So many people are posting that the 305/30 will fit but it isn't working for me. Is it the offset on the 10" wheel? I have done so much research my head hurts!! Thoughts anyone? |

It must be the wheel offset, or at least that's a variable you can change to make it work.
The standard SS 1LE rear wheel offset on 20x11" wheels is +43. I am running 305/35/20 rear tires on a standard, non-1LE 2SS that I got 1LE wheels for, and even these leave a few millimeters after driver side wire harness relocation, plus "pushing in" the wheel well liner a bit where the harness used to sit against it.

Those nittos may just run wide. Relocate the harness.

20’s suck. Move down to a 17” wheel if you wanna always hook. 20” wheels are heavy and your giving up a lot of sidewall for a drag radial

So the 35mm offset on the trial wheel should push the tire 8mm further outboard than the stock 1LE rear wheel. Was it hitting the fender liner out near the fender? I would be surprised if it does. What I'm wondering is if the tire you tried was actually a 305/35/20 instead of a 30-series? That would make it a lot taller in diameter, and it would much more likely to rub.

You are right Msquared. The test tire was a Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 that only comes in a 305/35. So it would have been a little taller. It was touching in the spot where the wire harness appears to be based on the posts that I have seen.
Do you think it was this difference and not the wheel offset? I am looking for confirmation that a 20x10 ET33 with a 305/30 will really work without rubbing on the inside wheel well fabric. |

Can someone confirm that the SS 1LE clearances in the wheel well are the same as the SS?

I should clarify, We tried the fitment of the 305/30 nitto's and it sat VERY close - I couldn't fit my finger between the tire and fabric like I can with the stock set up. The 305/35 Firestone's were clearly touching.
Maybe the Nitto 305/30 close fit is what I should expect? There just wouldn't be any room for suspension travel from what I could tell. |

As Msquated stated, the ET35 should push the wheel further away from the fender liner at the harness location. Also I believe arpad_m is running 35 series on the rear of his car and has mentioned no issues. Maybe measure the wheels to confirm the offset and make sure they’re correct.

The regular SS and the SS 1LE have the same fenders and fender liners. There are no differences in clearance out back. A 305/30/20 should fit, no problem. It will get tight to the fender edges with the reduces offset, but that's not where you're indicating the rub is happening. The 305/35/20 is 0.8" bigger in diameter than the 305/30/20, so the difference is significant. You should not use a 35-series.
One thing to check, though, is that the wire harness hasn't fallen off its mount behind the left rear fender liner. There was a glitch with a run of car where that clip failed. That makes the harness fall downward and wedge itself between the steel and liner over time, which pushes the liner out toward the tire more than it should. If that's happening, it will make your clearance tighter than it should be.

Thanks for all of the feedback. I decided to go with the following setup since the wheel manufacturer recommended a slightly different offset with the SV-F6 wheels. This way I can see if I have more room in the rear and I will get the 305/30 next time.
Rear 11x20 ET40, 295/30 Front 9x20 ET 20, 265/35 I will try to figure out how to post pics when they get put on in a few weeks. |

Here are some updated photos of the Savini SV-F6 wheels that I settled on.
Thanks again for all of your input. Turns out that I was over thinking this upgrade. |
