I got the AC Delco Oil Filter (PF64) at the dealership for $8.60, which is actually cheaper than any of the auto parts stores around me for it.
PartsGeek.com probably has it cheaper than that, but you will pay for shipping.

Occasionally the dealerships are cheaper than auto parts stores.

I think the absolute best filter available for the 6.2 is the Amsoil EA15K50-EA, from an efficiency and performance standpoint. They're about $13 if you're a preferred customer. More than some of the other options, but I don't believe there is a better filter available.

So is the OEM oil in a new car synthetic? The Mobil 1 5w 30 installed at first oil change was synthetic, correct?

I'm not sure what the new cars are coming with, but not all dealers are installing synthetic at the first oil change. Some still use the Dexos 1 GM oil that is a synthetic blend. If I had to guess, I would guess that is what the cars are coming with from the factory too, but I don't know for sure.

FYI: Walmart also carries AC Delco PF64 in the $5-6 range.

The WalMart by me never has the PF64, so I did not even know what the price was.
