Yaw rate sensor and side curtain airbags

Got into an accidental drift (no joke!) today and the seat belts retracted so tight, brakes locked up, and engine shut down, side curtain airbags (only) deployed and onstar called......

Why would GM ever not give you the option to turn that crap off!!! Costs more to fix than to install a dumb button.

FML.... Really........

Dealership better cover this stuff

Good luck with the dealer, I believe the other few instances where it happened, it was concluded that the car was acting accordingly to the situation and GM wasnt at fault.

I think its stupid that it even went off in the situation that it did. The option should be there allowing those features to be disabled. I cant imagine how many people autocross and road course and lose control....

Wait, just so I understand, you were drifting, sliding sideways, and the side airbags went off?

If your gonna take a street car and drift it, pull the fuses first.

I was doing an SCCA Solo Autocross....
That guy got lucky. My car yanked the seat belts tight as hell, side curtain airbags deployed, slammed on the brakes automatically, killed the engine, put the 4 way blinkers on ( Had to pull the battery to reset), and called onstar.. (Wtf LOL)

That guy wasn't even no where near as big of a slide as I was. holy crap.

The sensor is detecting the rate at which the car rebounded from the slide, as he straightened it out... the sensor detected the immediate change in rebound so it suspects a roll-over is going to occur.

I'm not sure what fuse needs pulling, and i dont advice pulling it in the event that some ever did roll there car.
