I just had to tighten mine for the 3rd time. Might have to use teflon tape if they loosen up again. They should have used metal fittings!

It's not a system under any kind of pressure, it really doesn't matter if the fittings get a little loose since the hoses have no ability to rotate and come backwards off the can, assuming your worm gears on the hoses themselves are appropriately tight.

Teflon tape on the fittings is totally overkill, but whatever you helps you sleep at night. Unless you can see oil leaking from the ports, stop freaking out about them not being 100% tightened .

I tightened mine once after 2,000mi, and again after another 2,000mi (no oil was leaking from the ports, the fittings were just a little loose). The last 1,000mi I've done they have not loosened at all. I'm sure Mishimoto had their reasons for not using metal fittings, they don't seem like the type of company to flippantly make decisions on design items.....

LOL I am just as OCD as the next guy, and I completely understand the aircraft mechanic viewpoint, I'm just saying in this particular application, there is no need to freak out, just snug them up a couple times after a few heat cycles and a few thousand miles of vibration and you're probably good for life. Like TSloper said, ultimately the fittings should be driven in completely flush.

Has anyone here actually had oil leaking out of their in/out ports yet upon discovering loose fittings?

Any leaks would be vapor, so it would leave a film before a drip.. And yes, now that the fittings are all the way in they seem to be staying tight.

Any leaks would be unmetered air. I had to tighten mine twice and on the 3rd and final time I sunk them all the way in and they have not loosened again.

after 1500 miles I had about 1/8 of an inch of oil in mine. I'll be checking it reguraly.

I've checked it every 1500mi three times now, always about the same amount of oil, so i'm confident that that check interval can be doubled to 3000mi before the oil is hitting the baffle, unless you're hitting up the track everyday....
