anyone seen this?

Why is a gm LT1 "create engine" breakin procedure so much differant from a camaro or corvette owners manual. Is this proof that GM breaks them in on there own? This makes no sence. See sheet 10 of 33

They want you to do WOT pulls and whatnot damn near right out the gate, then change oil...tf? what happened to the "no touchy 4k+ for 1500 miles"?

no kidding! I stumbled opon it I think this is a great breakin guide to be honest. I spoke to some engine builders in my area about it and they all agreed that this is the best way to seat the rings.

Because this is a crate engine and not an entire vehicle with a transmission and rear end and every other moving part that has to be broken in...

I believe this is probably correct. The engine itself may like to be broken in a little hard, but other parts don't. Rear end gears can be susceptible to whine if driven at a constant speed for too long at low load (a long road trip on cruise control right off the bat) and I assume the same can be said of the tranny gears. I personally plan to drive it like a normal car from day 1. If that means gunning it every now and then, so be it.

its a vehicle break in, not just an engine break in.

Makes since. I wonder about my A8 and how it "should" be VS how it is. Durring shift sometimes it almost pulls the car back then shift and moves FWD..if that makes since

I get that. but why is this not in the owners manual for the engine breakin. Im doing this break in to the tee but im switching to synthetic oil @ 1500 miles.

...because you're not breaking in JUST the engine. You're breaking in the entire vehicle. That's why it isn't in the owners manual. I have a friend who bought a rear end for the V8 S10 he's building. The break in procedure for that is to go easy on it for the first 500 miles, which is obviously the opposite of how they tell you to break in a crate engine. Think of the manufacturing process, while everything is made to tight tolerances, not everything is perfect and meshes perfectly together at first. There might be some "rough edges", so to speak, on various gears or whatever else. It could really be anything. Anything that moves has to be broken in, which is why in the owners manual, they tell you how to break in the vehicle, not how to break in the engine. If you want to pull your LT1 out of the SS and do an engine break in, go for it! It'll probably run amazing. But then put it back in and follow the break in procedure as described.

Im at about 850MI right now. What i meant was when the car shifts, when its shifting the vehicle is actually slowing down, then it shifts, and speeds back up. So, it pushes my head FWD when shifting rather then what im used to to my build 4L60E
