Anyone else had this problem?

Took car to the track today. On last pass, car buried the needle around 7k rpms on the 1st to 2nd gear shift. Then, the cars rpms starting flaring up from 2k-4K. I pulled in my house, shut it off then started it back and when I put it in drive and reverse and any hear it would just rev. I let it sit for a few minutes then started it and it drove a few hundred feet then started to rev again. So I decided to keep it off. Car is the 2016 8speed AUTO Lt1

Not proud to say, I have bounced off the rev limiter on more than a few occasions. I have not experienced any ill effects after that. Car seemed to perform normally after that.

How in the heck do you run up to 7k rpm...? Is that where auto 8 shifts at WOT?
