In the 70's I registered a 69 Camaro that had a small block from a 62 Impala. I gave the DMV receipts for repairs done and the title from both cars. It was a way to keep from having to pay back-fees and penalties on a car that sat more than a couple years.
When I received the new title it was registered as a 1962 CHEVY CAMARO I had them fix it, but it was pretty funny.

Remember when we paid out your stolen vehicle claim back in '87? Yeah, about that. We own the car and by law need to process it as salvage. Nice find, tho.
