Happens to me a lot. And then when I correct them I get “oh I didn’t know they still made those”. Good job Chevy. People don’t even know your coolest/second coolest car is still in production...

LOL, last time I saw the data, many people on the coasts don't even know GM makes cars. It's a GM problem, not a Camaro or Chevy problem.

I frequent this restaurant and last time one of the guys there said he knows when I'm around because he sees my Mustang in the parking lot...

Interesting, to me anyway, observation. I keep my side mirrors adjusted so I can just see the swell of the 'shoulder' over the rear tires on either side. My son keeps his 2020 Mustang mirrors adjusted the same way. The views are identical. From the driver's seat looking out the side rear mirrors you can't distinguish which is the Camaro and which is the Mustang other than by the color.

Interesting, as I don't recall being mistaken for a Mustang once. I did have one guy (while on a car cruise) think that my car was much older than a '17. He was driving a 5th Gen Camaro. I thought to myself, c'mon now.
When I had my Nissan Z cars, however, I was constantly being mistaken for driving a Porsche. I've always been a big fan of Porsche as well, but I found that as an insult to both sides. |

Well well, I think we've finally solved exactly why the Mustang sells as well as it does.
Lots of ignorant people out there that think every pony car on the road is a Mustang. They see a nice Camaro, decide they want it, but think it's a Mustang. By the time they make it to the lot to buy one, they've already forgot what the thing looks like. NOW WE KNOW!! hehe...I kid I kid.

Sales guy at T-mobile asked me if that was my Charger outside. I said, you mean the Camaro? He said it looks badass so I’m not mad

I think part of the issue is that 6th Gen doesn't have any clear labelling that says Camaro. The Camaro letters on the stock side emblems are incredibly small, and otherwise, it's nothing. It's not like other cars where a quick look at the trunk will reveal the model of the car unless it's debadged.
I changed my side emblems to the black Camaro letters which are much clearer. It's now much more similar to some other Chevy cars with their model names on the side in big letters, like Malibu and Blazer. I wonder if that helped with some people when it comes to recognizing the car. Mustang's running horse is pretty distinct. Camaro's red, white and blue are not as predominant and it doesn't help that 5th Gen didn't quite utilize that logo when it came back. Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk

Okay, just had a gen Z teenage girl at the Sonic drive-up window partially redeem the lack of car knowledge that's out there. I'm pulling up and she's freaking out about how awesome my CAMARO looked and asked me if it was a 2SS. Don't get that very often from the youguns!
