Any tips on removing plasti-dip.
I plasti-dipped my engine covers orange a few years ago, figuring that once I decided on what I really wanted to do with them I could remove it and pivot to a more permanent solution. Now I know what I want to do and need to remove the plasti-dip. Of course I could just peel it off, but I’m wondering if there is a chemical approach that would be faster and won’t damage the covers.

I think they sell some solvents specifically for plastidip.
I don't think i'd worry too much about "damaging" the covers, if they are getting show painted, they will heavily sand / smooth / body fill them anyways. You may want to ask the paint shop if they can just remove it for you (assuming this is the route you are going) |

Prep with Naptha, and let it soak in for 10 minutes. It should come off easy.

Goo Gone plus a pressure washer is your friend to remove it. You can buy DYC brand, but several years ago people said it's rebottled Goo Gone basically, even same orange color.
The main reason I posted is for a PSA, I do NOT recommend doing any vehicle in plastidip. They say it's harmless, etc, but it absolutely is not harmless. On the 4th of my old Hayabusa this happened to my stock paint. Of course I contacted them, which was no help other than giving me a little credit for their site........which does nothing when their product directly messed up my paint. I did use the said credit for more dip because I couldn't afford a paint job. Still had to spend a couple hours sanding all these crinkles it caused so I'd have a smooth surface again. I picked up a '22 busa few months ago and absolutely will not dip it or any vehicle ever again.

Thanks everybody for the tips. I have resolved my issue thanks to arpad_m who still had his original covers in flawless condition. I’ve left the thread open so that others can benefit from the knowledgeable tips that you guys are dropping in.
