Don't let the facts get in the way of a good story.

Plastic is still petroleum based and mining lithium isn't exactly environmentally friendly. Just a matter of time before all the people whining about ICEs start protesting EVs. Maybe after the EV craze dies down we can build them out of recycled cardboard and run them on unicorn piss. I sure can't wait for the rolling blackouts during the summer when everyone has their cars plugged in and AC running.
Elon said it himself a while back in an interview, It was meant to be an alternative market, not a total replacement. There are no free lunches. Even solar power requires us to tap into the Earths resources. The gargantuan quantities of materials required to power the masses will effect our environment no matter how we do it. Most countries have gotten better at mitigating it, but some of the biggest producers are still allowed to run wild while others look the other way and rake in the cash. The tech is cool, change isn't all bad, but I have the popcorn ready. There will be backpedaling and bailouts if they push this EV stuff to hard and too fast.

I saw the news snippet today. They were driving around a camo'd half ICE half big batt EV Vette. Reported to come as soon as 2024
With an all EV Vette soon to follow!

The E-Vette will be a big hit from the normal EV sameness...at least for a while...

Boring zzzzz It's like watching a race of which LED bulbs can light the room the fastest.
Know what's faster than an EV at full kilowatts ...Satchel Page. He said he's so fast that when he turns his bedroom light out he can be under the cover before the room is dark! |

Electrified, great. Let's bring up those CAFE avgs so we can keep the V8 around!
I still can't stomach a full electric model yet though. Hope it's not the only option when it comes out.

As we used to say years ago in the car business:
A water cooled Porsche is not a Porsche and later.... A 4 door Porsche is not a Porsche and now.... An electric Corvette is not a Corvette I don't want any muscle car sitting in my driveway that doesn't occasionally drip some oil out... |

Maybe its just me. I have an ICE and a Bolt. Only reason we bought Bolt is my wife hates, I mean hates getting gas. I will have a Camaro again in the next year or 2. But we love the EV. I fill up my current ICE car, and it lasts me for 2 months since we drive the Bolt around town. Absolutely love the EV. Love the ICE too. Not sure why its such an issue. But I love not having to pay $5 a gallon of gas to drive around town. If the Camaro goes EV I will certainly look at it and consider it.

I'm not against EVs entirely, and accept that some day I'll likely be driving one...it pretty much looks like I'll not have a choice (which goes along somewhat with the perspective that this is being forced on us although lots of people welcome it).
Lots of things about EVs will drastically change how we use our vehicles. I'd love to have a truck that drives like the Rivian does and has it's useful features and extra storage, but without the crazy cost. Sorry...not spending that much on a basically mid-size truck, no matter what it is. But I fail to see (with current technologies) how an EV sports car is going to satisfy a real car enthusiast. Sure that instant torque and blowing the doors off other ICE cars off the line sure sounds fun. But the noise, the feel, the build up as those RPMS climb....all gone. Without that, I'm out. What's the point when you can have other EVs that look nice, and have a similar torque feel but are much more practical to drive.
