Yes. Want the 1le look and a compliant suspension? Zl1 and add 1le aero imho. I street my 1le, but the zl1 is a much better ride. It is hard to call anyone a poser when the stock zl1 has crazy Nordschlief times. Talking crap to other car people makes no sense. None of us are the authority on what is acceptable. We all choose what is acceptable.

Was kind of thinking the same.. we aren’t all “trying to be like somebody else” we just think it’s cool and want the functionality and looks too! No hard feelings just respect

There’s no wrong answer here. I track 4-6 times per year. I went with a standard ZL1 and then purchased ZLE wheels and 3R tires for track use. I use my stock wheels and tires for street use. I’d dare say my car is not giving much up to a ZLE on a typical track day. There is typically a bigger difference in drivers than there is in cars. Go with what you can get and what you like.

I had a 6MT 19 ZLE and now have an A10 22 ZL1 (granted only 50 miles so far). I loved the 6MT ZLE but ended up selling it because I didn’t have time to track it anymore. I didn’t mind the ride but my daughter would get car sick in the back. It did get annoying from time to time though. Loved the look, but I also found the wing was annoying at night when the headlights would go below, middle and above it. The matte hood was kind of a pain to take care of but not horrible.
Fast forward a couple of years and I missed it after having a few different cars. Got lucky and found a brand new ZL1 locally at MSRP. Initial impressions are awesome. The mag ride is night and day better for just cruising in Touring mode and firms up nicely for the couple of autocrosses/HPDEs I can get to in a summer here. The A10 is amazing but so is the 6MT. I miss having a manual but admit the A10 is nice for jumping in and just going for a cruise or running errands such as school pick up/drop off/Target runs etc. I’d say its up to how you use it. If you track a lot the ZLE is the no brainer choice. If you are looking for more of a GT car with an edge to it than the ZL1 is probably the better choice. If you are young and want the coolest version on the block and don’t care about anything else then maybe ZLE as well. If you are middle age guy like me with a kid then the ZL1 is more livable but still a ton of fun with plenty of capability. Both transmissions are awesome so pick what you like. Edit: I think I may have already farted in mine to. Last edited by minn19; 04-03-2022 at 07:57 PM. |

Imitation the greatest form of flattery I guess however the tow hook comment stands. Seriously people laugh at fakers and up badgers everyone notes that. Love seeing all the v6 Challengers and others Hellcat badged.

Road courses require the tow hook to be installed for track use. I have the factory black one and you can’t even tell it’s there as it blends into the black grill. I don’t care for the red ones.

Even if we are tracking it, the non 1LE is quite capable and could probably run at lap record pace at most tracks in the right hands with race tires and basic setup. As much as I would love to think that the 1LE is making me a better track rider I have to admit that at my pace it really isn't. I got it purely for looks. Having the up-spec suspension, wider wheels, aero bits is just a bonus that makes for a good convo at the cars and coffee meet. All it takes is for a race school instructor to take a beat up 20 year old 3 series and dish out some work before people realize that it's mostly the driver. |

There's nothing fake about a ZL1 with 1LE aero components and there's no up-badging going on. The ZL1 is not a lower model, its the same as the 1LE without the extreme track package. You're talking apples and orange with V6 Challengers with Hellcat badges compared to a ZL1 with aero components added. You do realize a tow hook is required at most tracks, sure ALL ZL1s come with one from the factory, but some prefer the aftermarket versions. Again, you give 1LE owners a bad reputation with ridiculous comments like this.

If you are going to track the car then a ZLE! If not then a ZL1 will be a good choice even for some track events. Get what you want and can afford is my advice to you.

No one is talking about up badging here. This is the ZL1 section and there has been no discussion about any other model than a ZL1. There are also people who up-buy just to try and be cool. |
