SS 1LE dif oil
Probably redundant, but I did a change (had done) and sure enough there was a lot of gunk and shavings. Car has 2500 I bought it at 2000. It also still had the shipping blocks on it (I found them earlier). First owner not too concerned.

I just did the rear diff fluid on my car at 8k miles. I never raced the car and the fluid was rather dark. I attached the pics of the drain plugs too which were nasty.

I did a couple autocrosses before I changed mine (@1500 mi) and it was dark and sparkly (similar to Daily1LE). Glad I changed it before the time trial this weekend.

Correct me if I am wrong, but my understanding is that a mechanical limited slip diff has clutches. I believe those clutches will wear through normal use, and shed material in the process. Is my understanding correct?

the car doesn’t care where it is driven hard. if you flog it, change the oils regularly.

I changed mine around 3000 mileage. It was gunk on the drain bolt and dark fluid. I don’t plan on tracking mine. Maybe one or autocross event next year. I don’t think it hurts to just drain and clean the gunk off. I believe it’s worth spending $40 for 2qts and do it yourself.
