If it was me...and I know it's not, I would NOT change the 3,000 mile oil.
However, I would at minimum start the car once a week though out the storage period and let it idle up to operation temp, then shut it down.
Twice a week is what I would do.

This way at least there will be a film of oil on the internals, as oppose to the internals going dry in 6.5 months and then do a start up with fresh oil...that would be worse than not changing your oil.

Then when she is ready for daily duty, I would do the oil change.

Never start a car while it’s in storage unless you can drive it at least 20 to 25 minutes at normal speed, not idle, it needs a load… To burn off contaminants and condensation. You do more damage starting it and idling it occasionally when in storage.

Either way you do it isn't going to hurt a damn thing. The current oil doesn't have enough mileage to pose a threat. Changing the oil and letting set isn't any better or worse.

I like the idea of changing the oil so it's ready to go for next season. However, I always start the car and get it up to temp a couple times during the winter(usually when the roads are decent and I can take it for a quick spin and get it up to temp.) I think that is more important then engine having half life oil or fresh oil during winter storage.
