ZL1 to ZL1 1LE Front Bumper?

Wondering if there is much to the converting a stock ZL1 bumper to a ZL1 1LE. From what I'm seeing the bumper itself is no different, it's just that I'll need to change the front spoiler and add the upper moldings.

Only results that are popping up on google for me are SS -> ZL1 Conversions. Anyone by a chance done this?

Thanks.

It's not that bad. The process is a lot easier with two people. The hardest part was removing the drl bezels because the tabs are very stiff. Also, this is extra, but I taped up where the fender and bumper meet. The tabs on the side of the bumper kept bumping into the fender as I was removing it. It's always better to be safe than sorry! Here are a couple of threads with good info. Feel free to message me if you have any more questions.

Here’s my part list. I installed everything except for the upper grille. I’m not sure what the part # is for that.

That's great to hear and can easily be done. I remember finding out the hard way when upgrading my 1SS that the fenders were not the same size however it seems the only difference for a ZL1 to ZLE is:
  1. Grille
  2. Cannards
  3. Splitter (Option with deflectors)

Appreciate the quick response and helpful information. This is just for the front bumper I know there is a lot more to a ZLE...

I'm going through the process as we speak. the last of my parts arrived a few days ago, now I just have to find the time to put it together.

shop around for the misc bolts and pieces. I found ebay being the cheapest at the time (as long as you can get the seller to give you combined shipping).

I bought all the parts (grills and splitter) and I paid a local body shop to do the labor for mine, I believe it was about $150 for labor and I had the splitter paint matched to the rocker panels and rear valence. I think the total was around $400 for labor and paint. Turned out very well. I didn't use the 1LE canards.

I personally pulled up probably 20 different places, put the part number(s) in and checked on prices and shipping. Some places the part may be half the msrp but then shipping would be $100+. So then id just see who had the best price. Shockingly, for the grill my local dealer had the best price.

I too am doing this mod, adding some 1LE parts to a ZL1.I got all the parts from Matt at Wildhammer Motorsports, both grills-upper and lower. I bought the Anderson Composite Carbon Fiber front spoiler/splitter. Yes, prices have gone up. It's safe to say what hasn't. I won't be putting the dive planes on though, they are just a bit too busy for me. I also hear troubled people like to stomp them off when you aren't around. Tomorrow morning I'll press on installing the grills. Here are some photos as it is now. As for difficulty? IDK why some are saying it's not that bad, it's a pain in the azz getting to all the fasteners inside the wheel well!

@VmaxGen2 are you doing the 1LE front splitter, and if so are you cutting the tabs off the splitter winglets or cutting the slots?

Here are some pics with a 1LE upper and lower grill, 1LE Anderson Composite Carbon Fiber Splitter. I still have to finish fasteners inside the wheel well and under neath.

Firecaptain, I am using an Anderson Composite Carbon Fiber 1LE splitter, not the OEM. This splitter doesn't have the same tab setup as the OEM, but it does have metal tabs for each slot in the bumper skin where the OEM tabs would go. I didn't have to cut anything off to do this mod, BUT I wanted to! Dang this was a pain to do. This splitter even has the step at each end to latch onto the bumper skin. Everything about this splitter fit perfectly and it's a tight fit. You definitely need two people like others are saying when reinstalling it.

As for the tabs on the winglets this splitter does not have them. The winglets are molded in to the splitter, it's a 1 piece part. This is one of the reasons I went with this AC splitter, no winglets to bolt-on. This makes for a very clean smooth look. The carbon fiber color and weave match the OEM hood center piece nicely.

I only waited 5 weeks to get it. Matt at Wildhammer Motor Sports said there was 5 in stock at the time of order.
