Here's a picture of my driver side rear wheel well. After you remove the wheel well liner you should see a cable that runs in the general path of the red line.

- Remove the wheel well liner by popping out the handful of plastic clips (I only undid the forward half of the liner)
- The yellow marks represent where the cable is secured with a zip tie,
- Cut the bottom 2 that are shown
- Relocate the cable by sliding it inboard as far as it goes (shown by the green line)
- Down at the bottom by the harness connector you will see a frame with a hole that you can run a zip tie through to secure it in it's new location

You can see in the picture where the hole will form from rubbing. This particular picture is from a BFG 305/35/20 on stock springs. Why did I go with a 35 instead of a 30... Because that's all the BFG comp 2 A/S comes in and I wanted to run a 305 size A/S on my 20x11s.

After a few hundred miles the rubbing stopped (didn't get any bigger than what you see below) and no issues with damage to the cable.
Thank you for this great schematic, I am going to Toyo RR tires for the road course which is a 315/30 for my stock 2SS 1LE rims.
Also, do you have to do both sides or just one?

I've heard that after you relocate the wire, using a heat gun to reshape the fiber wheel well liner can help.

All I did was use one of those panel fasteners, drill a small hole in the wheel liner in the area that protrudes out, and push the clip through the liner into a hole on the chassis(I used a hole where the wire harness was zip tied prior to relocation). It holds securely and looks like OEM with no clearance issues or rubbing.

I put on a 295/40r20, a tire that my buddy is very successfully running on the back of his 5th gen SS. We didn't think the size of the fender well would be that huge of a difference. We thought wrong.

Anyway, I had the tire shop put my old bald Goodyear Eagle F1s back on yesterday after I heard the rubbing. The damage was already done tho, and the check engine light was on. Just waiting for the other tires I ordered arrive at the shop. Got the wiring harness repaired today too, so no more CEL for now.

Think this would be necessary for the ZL1 with 325 30 R20?

From what I read, gm changed the routing of this body harness at some point, not sure if it was 2019 or 2020, though, meaning you may get away with not touching the harness. I'd check no matter what.

This tire is 0.8" wider than stock, so you may need a small spacer and/or massage the wheel well liner with a heat gun, because there isn't a lot of clearance to begin with, harness or not.

Also, the 11" wide stock rear wheel is fairly narrow for a 325 width tire, the ZL1 1LE has 12" wheels in the back.

guess I'll find out tomorrow...I sent the shop some of these forum posts and a video on youtube explaining the harness thing if they run into it. I saw that 325's were the widest tire available so that's the one I went with lmao.

I'm going to have MRR M017 20x11 wheels and run 305/30/20 in the rear on my '24 LT1, is the harness location needed?

No, you'll be fine. This is a standard SS 1LE / ZL1 tire size, the wheel well and the main body wire harness are clearanced to accommodate it. I think the offset of those MRRs is within a few mm of stock, not enough of a difference to interfere with anything.

If you want to do additional research, here is a great site to start with: https://wheel-size.com
