Next perform the baggie test to see if your paint needs claying. The new clay alternatives work much faster then traditional clay.

If you've never done it, an iron decontamination is also a good idea. Most all US made cars are transported by rail, and sit in rail yards at some point.

Now that the surface is completely clean, do a wipe down with IPA 10-15% or Carpro Eraser.

Then polish with Essence. Follow with CQuartz and Reload. You can apply just the Reload if you don't want the CQuartz.
Thanks! I've pretty much followed that process. The prep work you've outline and I've followed is the time consuming part. The actual CQuartz and Reload applications are not that big of a deal. I just rushed to get it done because it was getting dark and only need to take care of a few high spots.

Location in NC?
No problem...I am starting to do detailing on the side, hoping it takes off. Gatlinburg is an awesome area, we go there at least 1 once a year during the summer.

I am about 30 miles north of Charlotte.

So I tried Reload on a black Hex-Logic pad and my DA polisher, and it seemed to work. Tried first pass on speed setting 1 just to spread the liquid, then 3, wiped and inspected. I noticed an improvement, so I did it two more times and it appears to be gone. I did this in two places. I don't think I affected the CQuartz, but if I did, I can easily go back and do all the prep, and reinstall. I saw at least two more places, and will tackle those soon. The car feels so silky wiping with a MF towel.

Once you do a wax strip (Dawn, clay) and use Essence and Reload, do you have to repeat the wax strip before using Essence/Reload in future?

I think I just answered my own last posted question with this info from Glen's Car Care Tips Master Plan:
From then on, wash with a good car soap using mitt above. (Not the Dawn)
This application of the products above; the Total polish and seal and the Crystal seal should last for 2-*‐3 months. I would wash and crystal seal it again then… And then do the whole thing above annually. The bottles of stuff above should last you at least 3 years…

Use common sense and what makes you happy. These are mild products that you can do what you want; take down to strip or use the baggie test to see if it needs clay. Personally, on a new car and is garaged, i Dawn and skip clay.

I really don't like to clay.

It's always best to do a strip wash before polishing to remove any old sealant or wax from the surface.

You want your polish to be working on the paint, and if not removed, old stuff on the surface can clog the pad quickly, keeping the polish from doing it's job, and with Essence, keep it from bonding to the paint properly.

As far as claying that depends on what your car has been exposed to since your last polish/seal. Check the paint with the baggie test to be sure no contaminates are present. The horizontal areas generally get more bonded contaminates on them, so you may only need to do these areas.

While you can use wax on top of Reload, I've found that it diminishes the hydrophobic effect somewhat. Glazes, soaps with gloss enhancers, and some detail sprays with gloss enhancers really diminish it a lot.

The hydrophobic effect from Reload will sheet water extremely well, and also keep dirt from sticking as much. This makes cleaning easier and safer.

I like using the EcH20/Reload mix to boost or detail on top of Reload, works real well and it keeps Reload intact while working like it should.

I'm sure it's not optimal treatment, but is it reasonable to apply essence and reload to cleaned painted wheels?

Skip the Essence polish, unless there are scracthes on the wheels, which you may have to use something more aggresive than Essence. Hydro2 the wheels then you can apply some Reload on the barrels (inside) of the wheels. A few sprays of Reloaf per wheels is all you need.

Essence and Reload were applied to my car on 10-16-2016. I have topped it off every 3 months with Hydrofoam.

My car is not garaged and is driven daily. To show the durability and hydrophobic results after 7 months and 13 days, I took a couple pics during a lull in a rainstorm this evening.

First pic is of water beading, second is after a pooling rinse, 15-20 seconds, you can see how much water is left. Besides the protection, I really like this aspect of the products, because I have so little water left to dry after a pooling rinse.
