Parts During Lansing Grand River Downtime
Good Afternoon Everyone,
I am in the same boat as many of you with a target production week that is during the downtime at LGR. I am wondering if anyone can shed some light on what happens to our parts(engines, brakes, bodies, transmissions, infotainment systems, etc..) while the plant is shut down. I assume that the shipping doesn’t stop so are all of our parts sitting there waiting until the plant is back up and running? Any insight anyone can provide will be appreciated, all of us will be built soon enough! |

Pure speculation, but my assumption is the downtime is due to waiting on parts - likely semiconductors/microchips of one sort or another. Or other assemblies that were in turn waiting on chips.

Chevy uses a just-in-time system so when the Plant is down all of the suppliers stop shipping as well. They may run a little to get ahead. They are down because they are missing the chips.

Great thank you for the information Bundi! This is exactly what I was looking for, so the parts don’t get there until the car is pretty much starting to be assembled then correct?
