All of those engine clearances that Chevy has worked so hard to perfect become increasingly penetrable as RPM and oil pressure increases.

My oil pan bolts were working loose after about 2 years. Tightened them and haven't had any seepage since.

As for oil consumption, as of 40K miles and LOTS of track days, I burn 0 during an event. I've never added more than 1/4 qt between oil changes.

OP - that much consumption during ONE event is concerning. Modern engines just don't burn oil. If they do, something is wrong. I'd find a shop (or DIY) to perform a compression check.
If bolts were loose, you would see oil stains when parked

I have no stains at all under my car

I will ck when I get back to Florida

Thx

I had no stains under the car either time but it was just a single slightly loose bolt in each case for me. I guess I caught it quickly enough both times that oil only seeped significantly while driving hard on track.

Weemus, I rented a garage so facilitate changing wheels (I use the OEM wheels/tires for the track and a separate set for DD). I think I saw your black 1LE parked under a tree near the form-up line to the pit/track entrance. I didn't see you on-track, as I was running in intermediate group - my first time at CMP and my first time driving my 1LE on track.

Got used to it pretty quickly though and was turning 1:50 by the end of the 3rd stint. Probably would have been in the high 1:40s if I could have run a lap without needing to let up for slower traffic. The SS 1LE is a truly amazing car!

CC2018SS1LE, My experience with oil consumption on track days led me to make 2 changes.
when it is warm out, which is most of the year around here, I run the 15/50 Mobile 1 that is recommended for the ZLE.
I also short shift ~ 5500-6000 RPM rather than run out to the red line.

I've seen several improvements from this: lower oil temps, longer oil life and less oil consumption. Prior to these changes, the catch can would fill up every session. now i can go 2 days and have ~ 1" in it.
FYI the catch can won't stop oil consumption, it will keep it from caking on your intake valves........only if you empty it and/or it doesn't fill up in one session.
Something else, IMO having a catch can will help save your CATs when running the 15w50 oil. It'll keep the phosphorous, which is in the oil, from damaging the CAT material. During summer I'll run the 15/50 full time. I don't change after each track day.

Good luck!

Makes a lot of sense
I have to change oil before I go back to Sebring, I’ll put the thicker oil in
I also ordered a catch can, going to install before the track day
Can you put the oil from the catch can back in the motor, or, just throw away?
Thx

I dispose of the oil, when you smell it there is a gas scent. I feel as though it would thin the oil in the crankcase if it was poured back in.
