Don't forget the $5k market adjustment adder. It will be added to the MSRP.

Being older than 62 1/2 I would consider taking out the full purchase costs of my new car. Before I did so I would first have to compare the interest rate on a loan vs. what interest rate my 401k was generating. If I were paying 5.9% on a loan, then in my case it makes more sense to take the loan then removing money from my 401k that is making 10%. As you can see all of us have different financial circumstances that makes it almost impossible for us give you advice on your financial circumstances. As others have said I think 62k for a 1SS seems pretty steep. At this point I would consider it water under the bridge. Enjoy your new car, talk to others about other options to refinance it, and refinance it ASAP. Just my thoughts... Last edited by 79 TransAm that never was; 04-21-2023 at 08:10 AM. |

Congratulations on the car.
If you belong to a credit union check out their rates. They usually have better rates. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'd say you got hosed.
I was at just 50K out the door for my 21' 2SS with MRC/NPP and some other odds/end options. My loan was 40K (rest was down payment) and over 5 years at 1.99%, my total cost is $42,056 for the loan, just $2,056 in interest, and the $10,000 down payment. So all in, $52,056... You are in for nearly double with a 1SS. I know interest rates and even dealer markups are up, but I personally would never drop that kind of coin on a car. My 2SS is about the limit for what I would ever pay OTD for a car. Hope you can refinance later on, at least. |

Interest rates are horrible right now. Doesn't matter what your credit score is. I can't believe housing construction hasn't completely collapsed.
Apparently the only way to get inflation down is to give our money to bankers. |

Speaking of getting hosed(mostly by GM), here's my story:(SORRY, tried to abbreviate as much as I could).
2022 ZL1 scheduled to be delivered May 23rd, 2022 at $68,815 with interest rate at 4.75 then. My 2022 got stolen and wrecked FROM THE LANSING PLANT May 2nd, 2022. Had to reorder same car as 2023, with the higher MSRP of $72,665.. 2023 got delivered September 6th, 2022. Was told the interest rate would now be at 6.99. GM gave me Employee discount on the 2023 for my first one being stolen/wrecked. Price of 2023 with discount was now $67,595. Dealership "helped" me out with the bank and bought a lower interest rate for me. Thet were able to get me at 5.49 from the 6.99. Which everything considered is not bad for price of car and interest. MY issue along with SEVERAL others have said is that GM SHOULD have price locked my 2023 at the 2022 price of $68,815 AND kept me at the initial 4.75 interest. Then I would have gotten my 2023 ZL1 for $63,998 with Employee discount and the 4.75 interest. Of course i knew that was never going to happen with the money hungry GM brass. I still overall feel like I got a good deal($67,595 @ 5.49%) considering the interest issues and MSRP increase from 22 to 23, but I do BELIEVE it could have and should have been better.

It’s true I could have went with a 2SS for even less, but this car had a lot of upgrades. The ground effects body kit and carbon spoiler still haven’t arrived at the dealership but they told me they would install it for free once it gets there. The ground effects package alone was $2k. They also tinted the windows.
Additional options: Ground effects package Magnetic ride control Recaro performance bucket seats Interior spectrum lighting Dual mode performance exhausts Carbon flash metallic wing Strut tower brace Red brake calipers Suede steering wheel Suede embroidered center console Red seat belts Red interior trim Red kneepads and a few more things It priced it up from $39.9k to $55k, totaling about $15.3k added options. After destination fee and “market adjustment” it ended up totaling $59.7k. Contract showed it at just under $62k after taxes. With all the additional contract fees and gap insurance, total financed was $69k. I was thinking a 1SS that’s heavily upgraded could be better than a 2SS with minimal upgrades. I appreciate all the responses here. I’ll post more pics sometime in May once the ground effects kit and spoiler are added. |

I guess my question would be, with those upgrades, why not just go for a ZL1?

From what I could find locally, they were going for $68k minimum. After all the fees, it would probably leave me at $80k and with a hefty finance charge. My car was $56.5k before market adjustment, $59k after, but total financed after all the fees, gap, registration, etc, was $69k. I would of needed to find a used ZL1 and I really wanted to own a new car if I was financing long-term.

My 2023 1SS was $42k with options. APR is 7% but I'll be paying it off early (likely end of this year). No markup from dealer.
Unless every possible option was added, including 1LE, i'm not sure how a 1SS gets to $57k. Did you share options that I missed?
