ZL1 1LE M6 Hot trans temp at track

Ive been tracking my ZLE for a few months now and done all the fluid exchanges except the transmission so far. Yesterday at the track as I was scrolling thru my temps and pressure gauges to check the status of the car, i noticed the Trans temp was pinned at 300 degrees. This was after a 30 min session. There was no odd feelings or hard shifts, everything felt great. Ambient temp was about 84 degrees and my engine oil temp was actually about 10 degrees lower than usual.

Im thinking a fluid change can help remedy this, as Im sure the thermal capacity of the old fluid is pretty much toast. Has anyone else run into this before? Also the oem fluid is GM part 88861800?

My temps stay around 230-240 in an A10 with those temps and I run it hard. I'd say something is off.

You may want to look int 2019 under belly scoops that dump air into rack / trans area.

Sensor perhaps? Something tells me you would feel it if the fluid was really over 300 degrees in there or something would break.

That was another thought. Fluid has at the most 10k miles on it and only 4 or 5 hours of track use. I dont see how it has failed so quickly, Car drives fine at "300" as it does on a cold start. Ill be getting under it today to check it out.

I would be looking at the temp sensor also, but given 10K miles and some track use, a fluid change is called for anyway, IMHO.

Changed the fluid with fresh AC Delco and temps have dropped a good amount but still runs very hot. 260-275 range.

This might be a long shot, but do exhausts usually have heat shielding around the area of the transmission?

I know you got an aftermarket exhaust, perhaps maybe heat shielding is missing which might be contributing to the higher temps the transmission is being subjected to?

Is that after a long track session? Or everyday driving?

Thats my next guess, I might wrap the headers in wrap, or put heat tape on the trans to take some heat away from the pipes.

hard track day 20-30min session 90 degree ambient temps.

Everyday driving brings around 150 degrees
