In order to start, you need something to turn the motor. Typically, that's the starter. With bump-start, you're able to turn the motor a different way. But... You still need all of the various electronics to be working so that the motor will actually run. And before you can get to that point, you have to be able to have enough energy being generated to at least put the car in an "on" position (which, btw, would also unlock the steering column)...

If you have a small charge in the battery to where you can get the modules and such powered, unlock the column, etc. - then I think you're right that it shouldn't take much.
Nothing with a stoned dead battery will. It’s very rare for a car to have a battery that low. Usually they have enough juice to power up the car, but not enough to spin the engine over. To see if the camaro can be bump started is a 2 second test. go to safe area, get the up to about 10 mph, put it in neutral, shut it off, quickly turn it back on and let the clutch in the gear you normally would go 10 mph in. It’s a lot easier to test it that way vs waiting until you would actually have to do that

I had a car with a tiny Hawker Odyssey battery. If the car would be sitting for a while, I’d park it facing downhill for easy starts.

Wouldn't an EV simply recharge the dead battery from being rolled?

Most of the time the battery my be to weak to spin the starter, but enough juice for the ignition. Push the start button on , roll the car, pop the clutch in 2nd gear or in reverse if your rolling down hill backwards and the car should fire in my opinion.

Not possible since about 40 years ago. If you have an electric fuel pump and EFI, not gonna happen, grandpa.

Assuming the bump start is possible (improbable), 2nd gear would be the choice, not 1st or reverse. Plenty of bump start attempts become instant stops with the latter choices.

As mention in some post, dead battery usually means not enough to turn engine over but will power fuel pump and ignition. I will try after ceramic coating the car. Should work. Lot's of good opinions. Ain't Scared...
