ZLE Owners, do you think it holds it's value over the years?
Just curious with the car market the way it is & ICE cars slowly dying, EVs being the new go-to and the z06/vette looking like it's going to be the only ICE sports car GM is choosing to go with for the future how something "special" like a ZL1 1LE will be looked at in say 5 years from now.
Curious what everyone thinks. |

I don’t buy cars as an investment, so I don’t care what the value is. I do think they will be a desirable car in the future, but it will probably take more than five years. Mine will be in the garage for a long time.

I don't think anyone really knows. In England, they are introducing legislation to ban the repair of older cars. Will gas be $15 per gallon in 10 years? No one knows. That might have a real impact on values.
Unfortunately, as much as we here on this forum love these cars, they are not desirable to high net worth car collectors who are the people who really drive the collector car market. Last edited by Mark R; 02-20-2024 at 09:58 AM. |

My guess is the low mile models will increase a bit in value over the next 10 years. Cars that have a lot of track time will settle around $50K to $60K in that time.
I dont think we'll see the day where a ZLE with 50K to 70K miles will be had for $40K. |

Drive them and enjoy them...!!
I think about values often as well, as it just in my nature given that I usually get bored and want to do something different every few years. So values are semi-important so I can invest that amount into my next ride. However, if you have to worry about values, you might have too much tide up in said vehicle(s) anyway. As I age and get closer to retirement age, as well as my health, I have thought more about down sizing the number of vehicles and the amounts I have tied up in them. Been seriously thinking of selling one or two of them and preparing for the future more. As for ZLE values, I think they'll hold steady given the low numbers of them out there. Esp. the nicer low miles non-tracked ones. I doubt they'll ever really go too far up. Like said above, gas prices in the future could really impact ICE vehicles. I specifically bought my 2SS 1LE instead of a Z or ZLE so I could run the cheaper fuel (reg.87) for all my street / mountain driving. Saves a good bit or money for our 200-300 mile days in the hills. Or track for that matter (haven't done that yet with the SS).

Mine will probably be worth $0 when I'm done with it lol. I enjoy it too much and in the 2 years that I've owned it I've took it from 3 miles to 46k miles. All me, mostly highway.

Drive it and enjoy the car while we can and don’t be concerned about the future value of the car! That’s what I’m doing with mine.

It’s my children that will have to worry about what it’s worth if they want to sell it after I’m gone. I already know what it’s worth, it is unlimited smiles and cheek puckers!

Low miles, great condition absolutely! The ZLE will fetch a huge value in the future! And will only grow in value as Z's get stolen, crashed & go higher in miles.

all you have to do is look at what z28 have done when no one wanted them to years later when there price skyrocketed. To answer your question yes they will go up in value no matter what miles are on them.

Production of the Z/28 was limited, so only 1,801 were ever built over the course of two model years (509 cars in 2014 and 1,292 in 2015). Big difference compared to the 6th Gen 1LE production over multiple years, plus there were other things that made the Z28 collectible, most notably the 427ci LS7 which was not shared in other Camaro models and the carbon ceramic brakes. This is the same reason why the C6 Z06 seems to hold his value really well, that 427 is unique and special.

2017 was the first year for the 6th Gen ZL1 and was a short manufacture run (November 2016-Early May 2017). It was the 50th Anniversary year for the Camaro with special "Fifty" annotation to the ZL1 (steering wheel badge as well). A total of 3048 were made and 49 of those were test mules. Only 2999 were sold to public. If you have a 2017, there will be a market in the future based on this background for a Camaro enthusiast. They also have the short run rectangular tail lights that some find more desirable. I'll keep mine indefinitely and enjoy it as much as possible. I have no intentions of selling. Having owned Camaro's since the 70's (starting with a Gen 1), there's never been a time in my lifetime where there wasn't a fan base for these cars.
