I had Hagerty cover my drag car before I sold it. Now I just take my chances with my DD, but off the track I'm 100% covered with an additional $1M umberella policy.

Wrecks that total street cars at the drag strip are extremely rare. There have been a few times that I've purposely let a car in the next lane go if they look sketchy or there is a serious difference in speed (pro-stock type car, etc). Track insurance typically cost $300+ and there is a 10-15% deductible. I've never heard of anyone getting it for the drag strip for a "test and tune".

My drag strip insurance is in my bank account. You let your insurance company know and they might raise all your other policies saying your a risk now that they know your a drag racer.

If you can't lite it on fire and push it off a cliff, don't take it to the track!

Damn I would already be 6k in the hole if I paid for insurance at the track. And that is nothing compared to others I am sure.. If you cant afford to break it dont build it or race it.

Oh, and I wanted to call the company to insure my car, and now I find out that they don't cover the drag strip. Good thing I found this now and not later.
Now I have to look and ask different companies if they cover damages in this case. Do you have any options? I found some insurance companies on https://joywallet.com/best-car-insurance-companies/, but I don't know if they do it. I will call them tomorrow and will find out.
If you're interested, I can tell you the results. I hope there will be a positive one.

Any regular car insurance company you call asking about drag racing may blacklist you from buying insurance from them in the future. If you ask your current insurance company, they may send you a nonrenewal letter.

All normal car insurance companies I have seen in the US have an exclusion for anything on a racing surface and/or timed event and/or racing/contest.

If it helps you, I have a list of all the insurance companies that provide auto insurance https://american-reia.com/insurance-providers/ You can reach out to them or learn more about their insurance options on the drag strip.

I carried insurance at the track from 2001-2011 but haven't checked since. I'm betting it's still available.
