Thanks for this info. Just confirming, can you use stock brembo pads on the front Girodisc rotors?

The car that I just picked up has Girodisc and Hawk Pads matching below, but in the past I preferred the stock pads over the Hawks. I am going to give them another chance, but I didn't like losing half of my pedal when trail braking. I kept over slowing.

The overall diameter of BOTH the stock rotor and Girodisc Rotor is roughly 15.35. The GIRODISC rotor however has a larger HAT area so of course that means that the width of the actual braking surface is slightly narrower on the GIRODISC rotors which by the way are DIRECTIONAL unlike the stock rotors.

If you have the REAR Girodisc rotors, then you can use the same brake pads as what you did on the STOCK rotor setup. The pad shape on this one is called 0592. Correct part number for this DTC60 pad is HB194G.570.

Badmojo: FYI - that PN is the smaller and thinner J6M SS 1LE pad. The regular ZL1 / J6H size pad doesn't work with a Girodisc ZL1 ring / hat unless you modify them.

Thanks. I guess I'm going to have to get used to the Hawk Pads. They are just too damn grabby for me.

Ok well the Hawk DTC 60 pads will not be as grabby as the DTC 70 compound.

Vitesse contoller Installed

Due to feedback from Adam Poland, he suggested my car needed a more aggressive throttle controller map. SO.......I had AMP use HP tuners and Sam modified the table to be more linear.

As a SECONDARY step, I wanted the car to basically be instantly adjustable in terms of throttle response so that it could easily adapt from say a track with TIGHT corners like the 1.3 mile Motorsports Ranch course to a much faster course like the Eagles Canyon course that has increasing radius turns and high corner exit speeds.

The way the VITESSE works is that it has NINE separate adjustments in sports mode from SP0 (like shown in pic below) to SP9 (most aggressive throttle response). It also provides SEVEN different settings in the ECONOMY mode which I would NEVER use.

Since I LIKED the way AMP modified the throttle response table with HP tuners I wanted to make sure that the VITESSE controller would NOT over ride the AMP modified throttle position table in the ECU.

In talking with the tech at VITESSE, he said the VITESSE controller used the paramaters in the ECU table and simply makes them MORE aggressive by ADDING to those values (in SP mode).

Since SP0 is in effect NOT adding any values to the ECU table then THAT is the setting that lets the AMP modified throttle position table work as if the VITESSE controller is NOT attached.

I have included the instructions because the setup is NOT very forgiving in that if you dont do it EXACTLY as they say, then you can get a DTC code and the car can go into reduced power mode.

In playing with this last night, the SP9 setting was like an on off switch and was too aggressive. Vitesse mentioned that MOST people run SP5 or SP6 setting assuming they have an UNMODIFIED Throttle position table in their ECU.

In my case, SP3 felt good using my michelin 4s and I could see using SP6 with my track setup and slicks on the FASTER tracks.

The NEAT thing about this controller is that you can change the setting on the fly.

I will feedback once I have more real world experience. I plan on doing some test sessions this weekend.

UPDATE on Vitesse Controller

UPDATE...Today 8/18/22

Ok I will say this about VITESSE. Their support is pretty incredible. You can actually talk to somebody!!! In working with the Vitesse tech, he determined that there was possibly an issue with the interface box since I was getting those REDUCED POWER errors. We DID verify that the box is sending the correct voltages to the ECU which are .9 volts on the LOW side (no throttle pedal) and 4.2 volts on the HIGH side (full throttle pedal). I will get the replacement controller next week.

8/17/22

OK...I was told that this controller worked flawless on some cars and on others it can cause issues. After a day or so of use, in my specific case, I am getting a DTC with reduced power mode error coming shortly on after that. This has happened maybe four or five times today.

I called VITESSE THIS MORNING and he wanted to verify that the controller I have is giving the correct voltages for the LOW Value (pedal at rest) and the HIGH value (pedal fully depressed). He wanted to check this REAL TIME while the controller is being set up. The controller display actually will display the voltages as it is being set up so that should be easy enough to verify. I will get back with him THURSDAY morning 8/18

In the meantime, I have at least temporarily disconnected the controller for now.

If I cant remedy this issue then I am still happy with the modified throttle table that AMP did for me with HPTUNERS so I will run with that.

OBDII Gauge Going In

I acquired a AEROFORCE OBDII CN101 gauge on friday and I will be putting it in my car this week. It has literally HUNDREDS of parameters it can display along with being able to clear DTC codes.

Here are SOME of the parameters:

* RPM
* MPH
* Intake Air Temperature
* Intake Air Temperature 2 (charge air temp)
* Mass Air Flow Sensor Counts
* Mass Air Flow Sensor (lb/min.)
* Engine Coolant Temperature
* Long Term Fuel Trim (bank 1 and 2 if supported)
* Short Term Fuel Trim (bank 1 and 2 if supported)
* O2 Sensor Voltage (bank 1 and 2 if supported)
* Manifold Pressure in PSI (Boost pressure for factory turbo/supercharger applications)
* Ignition Advance
* Knock Retard
* Cylinder head temperature
* Engine Run Time
* Battery Voltage
* Throttle Position Percentage
* Throttle Position Voltage
* Engine Load
* Calculated Horsepower*
* Instantaneous and average fuel economy*
* 2 user configurable analog inputs**
* Injector Pulse Width
* Injector Duty Cycle
* Fuel Pump Duty Cycle (returnless systems)
* Fuel Pressure (returnless systems)
* Transmission Temperature (Automatics)
* Calculated Engine Torque

More info can be found HERE in this listing:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/13191953422...Bk9SR96olZjVYA

I will post pics of the installed gauge later this week. I am waiting on the POD housing to get here from AEROFORCE on THURSDAY. It attaches to the defroster vent on the driver's side of the dash but it still lets the air flow thru the vent.

AEROFORCE Interceptor Gauge now INSTALLED

Just got thru installing this gauge and as promised here are pics below. What I LIKE MOST about this gauge besides all the data it provides thru the OBDII connection is its ability to clear and reset DTC codes.

You can see here it is displaying WATER TEMP and Alcohol content of the fuel in the tank. I am running E85 but ACTUAL alcohol content is 78 to 79%. The gauge is installed in a single pod mount from AEROFORCE that fits into the defogger vent on the drivers side but STILL lets air flow around the gauge. The color match is EXCELLENT.

The only drawback is that the readouts are pretty small but thats what you expect with a 2 inch gauge.

If you look closely you will see VENT holes at the outermost edge of the piston that makes direct contact with the back of the brake pad when they are in place. This vented piston design is what was used on the J57 brake option on the corvette Z06. A stock ZL1 brake piston DOES NOT have these cooling vents.

Second pic is looking straight down into the caliper and the third pic is the BACK of the caliper.

Overall finish is EXCELLENT and he uses threaded plugs on anything that has threads so that the powdercoating does not seep into those areas.
Have you had the car on track since doing the J57 vented pistons? Curious to hear your thoughts & feedback!

Yeah there's no doubt the brakes dont get quite as hot. With a heat gun I am getting ROUGHLY 400 degrees at the outside of the caliper which is cooler than I was getting before.

Time for NEW seat!!!

Well at the track today I bent the back of my track seat so its time to buy a more track oriented FIXED BACK seat.

My criteria here is that I want a seat that will accept a 5–6-point harness BUT in the meantime accommodate the stock lap belts.

I also want the seat to be leather or alcantera. Now because I wanrt to use stock seatbelts in the meantime that means that the side bolsters to the seats how to be lower profile than a typically full blown track seat.

After doing some research this is what I have come up with below. I will opt for the CIRCUIT seat that comes with the slots for the harness belts

I like the looks of that seat! What base are you going to use? What will you do to disable the air bag system from the factory seat...thinking you may have already done that since I remember you changing out your seat. I am thinking about changing my seats out too, hence the interest. Competition Motorsports is a good group to work with.

Well I am going to use the BASE I am using now, PLANTED TECHNOLOGIES, I like the way those fit and they have mounting tabs for the STOCK seatbelts already which I am currently using.

These new seats use SIDE Mount brackets which I will attached directly to the planted technology bracket with grade 8 bolts.

I never did disable the SRS lights but I have gotten so used to it that they dont really bother me anyway. The Circuit version of this seat has the harness holes for the 4,5 or 6 belt setup. I may miss not having the seat back recline adjustment but in the interest of having a STRONGER more stable seat back I will forego the adjustment. The SAME can be said of using an adjustable SLIDER. That ALSO makes the seat less rigid so I will mount seat solidly on the planted technology seat bracket in my normal driving position.
