I just went and looked and my other fob has it removed. I never use that one. My guess is they peeled off the film at delivery on the fob they used to pdi the car and left the other one in the packaging. When I got back from picking up the car, I must have thrown that one in my junk drawer and switched to the other fob with plastic still on it.

Seconding that, I love these "coolbestda" covers. They offer good protection, and although they don't stay clean much longer than the fob itself without a cover, they're much easier to wipe and look perfect again.

It's a film all right, but I don't think it was meant to be peeled off, it's difficult to do so and it feels more like a top protective layer that is just too weak. The white markings also discolor easily on the fob itself, but not on this cover (it has both red and white versions from another vendor).
