Dressing Brembo Brakes

I hope I'm asking this correctly? How do you keep the Brembo Brakes black? They tend to fade like the tires.

Thanks for any suggestions.

frogfish,
I assume you are talking about the brake calipers? If so, I have the red (powder coated) Brembos on my 2011. I removed the wheels and cleaned the calipers with soap, water and an old tooth brush. I also cleaned the entire wheel including the inside of the rims. After drying, I applied a thin coat of wax to the entire rim and the outside of the calipers. This has seemed to help keep some of the brake dust off the rims and calipers. Not sure if your calipers are powder coated or not, if not, I wouldn’t apply wax to non-powder coated calipers. The wax may tend to get trapped in the pores of the caliper and leave them with a white haze appearance.

You'll need to get them recoated and then use wheel cleaners that are PH neutral. If they're already faded its pretty much already too late.

Thanks for the advice so far. My camaro is new only 5 months old (6,300 miles). I just needed to know what product to use to keep them looking black. They have the red and white lettering on the front. Is it common for them to color fade so quickly? I just want to protect them best I can. So the wheel spray will act like a tire black application?

SS's don't have black brembos. They have that flat greyish color.

Yes, the flat grayish color. However 3 of mine are much darker than the other. Almost appear dark gray/black.

If you feel up to it. Get some G2 caliper paint. Cant say enough about this stuff Did mine two years ago and I drive my car a lot. They're still incredibly glossy and bright. Looks like a candy coating lol. Best part is... Coating is so smooth and durable, Brake dust wipes right of without any chemicals/soaps.

The idea of trying a trim dressing of some sort (i.e. In-and-Out spray) just might be the ticket. Try it and get back to us. Otherwise, I'd just paint them a color you like. Mine are black and painted with the G2 system. When the brake dust buildup gets too heavy in the little pits and crevices that are hard to get to when scrubbing them, a twice-a-year soak with Iron-X and a degreaser completely restores them to new.

Thanks a bunch for all the great ideas. I think I will start with the least invasive and go up from there.

Best thing to do for detailing, start with the lightest and go from there.
