Oil with btr cam

Getting my car a btr cam done this week. Shop said they’ll use Valvoline vr1 20-50 for break in. I’ve been using the mobil1 euro 0-40 since I’ve bought the car. Should I keep using the same oil or change it? What oil is recommended?

I agree with them... I would change the oil and filter in 500 miles back to your oil of choice.

Yep, use the Valvoline VR1 20-50 break-in oil for the first 500 miles 'cause it will help to protect your new camshaft and lifters during the break-in process.

After the break-in period, you can switch back to Mobil 1 Euro 0-40 or another high-quality synthetic oil. Just start the engine and let it run at idle for 10-15 minutes (vary the RPM between 2,000 and 3,000 RPM for 20-30 minutes), then drive the car normally, but avoid hard acceleration and braking for the first 500 miles*

Change the oil and filter after the first 500 miles. I follow these tips and they help me ensure that my new camshaft and lifters break in properly and last for many years to come)
