Inexpensive Dexos1 at Walmart

Gang,

There's a recent thread on here for AFAICT the ZL1 owners (the topic is the 0W-40 Supercar oil.)

For those who are still comfortable using the Dexos1 formulation, the Walmart here in Peoria, IL carried a 12-qt., 5W-30 "jug in a box" for $59. (I bought one, probably should have bought two. And like a complete dope, I didn't even think to tour the filter aisle, about twenty feet away, and check for PF64's...)

Downside with the "jug" is that you'd have to monitor your quart usage as you pour, so as not to overfill, and that you'd have two quarts left over. But neither is the end of the world and that seemed like an even better price than with the long-running Autozone deal.

Perhaps worth checking out.

Maybe I'm missing something, but what brand oil are you talking about?

pour 1.6 quarts out in a measuring cup before using the jug and set aside. you're left with the needed 10.4 in jug.

if you don't care about brand then Costco appears to have 20 quarts for $64 on sale to 9/24

Dynamical,

No sir, you are not missing a thing, as I utterly failed to include that little tidbit: Mobil1.
