Opinions needed
So I currently drive a C5 Corvette to work twice a week but its 160 miles round trip so 320 miles a week. I already have a ZLE that I only use as a weekend toy. I'm looking for a dependable option to drive all those miles. Thinking about a 2020 LT1? I will need to have a V8. Would it be stupid to have a Camaro toy and a daily driver too? Opinions also on the LT1? Also would prefer a auto for a daily as my ZLE is a 6 speed. Looking for a affordable option. The C5 has been very dependable but driving a older car that far every week is asking for trouble.

I would keep dailying the C5 to be honest. My friend had one with 480000 kms. It really never gave him problems. He drove it all through our shitty winters. The car was great.
Honestly myself I would not want my daily to be the same car as my weekend toy. I know the LT1 is cool and all but...... I don’t know that I would enjoy the ZL1 as much as normal when every day I’m driving a Camaro anyhow. You’ll appreciate the ZLE much more when you hit the pedal on the right that’s for sure. |

Get an LT1 with the A10 Auto. It has the LT1 engine and is a lower cost alternative to a 1SS or 2SS! You can get some nice options on it that won’t drive the cost up too much either!

For a dependable daily driver, and especially if you have a "bonkers" weekend toy already, I for one would get the auto and definitely not give up the 2SS comfort features.
Disregarding heated seats/steering wheel you probably don't really need in FL, there's a whole lot more: blind spot monitoring, cooled leather seats, memory package, MRC, auto-dimming side mirror, collision alert, rear camera mirror, better audio system, all aimed at making daily driving the Camaro as a "normal" car better. (Just my 2 cents'.)

Given that you already have a ZLE, I'd actually consider a Challenger or Charger for a fun commuter vehicle. Big, comfortable whale of a car that you can see out of and carry more than one passenger in.

I've got a 2019 Camaro LT in Shock with the 2.0 turbo and LOVE it! It's my daily driver. On 2 lanes I get just over 36 mpg, on the interstate I'm hitting right at 32 mpg. My weekend toy is a 2017 Camaro 2SS in Krypton Green. On 2 lanes I get around 34-37 mpg, on the interstate I'm hitting just over 32 mpg. My buddy thought I was lying about my mileage until we took both on road trips. I set the cruise at the speed limit and go. Road trips aren't about making good time, they're about having a good time. I do put my foot into them from time to time. Enough to get me in trouble with the wife, but not with law enforcement. As far as worrying about your C5, my dad always said, "Take care of your vehicles with preventive maintenance and they'll take care of you."

If memory serves, the 2LT has all of the creature comforts of the 2SS. But, with the 3.6 V6 that runs on regular gas and gets close to 34mpg.
I submit that would make a great commuter car as well.

The base Challenger R/T with 5.7L Hemi V8 and TorqueFlight 8-speed automatic is $37,685. With a 6-speed Tremec manual instead the price is $36,090. Variety is the spice of life.

OP I am all in on the 2020 LT1 and I am coming from an A10 ZL1. You can put Recaros on an LT1 and Bose if you want. I did. For me three more have to haves on a V8 Camaro are NPP, M6, and a sun roof. Becky did my deal and my first trip was Detroit to NJ. It would be a great daily as it is an all day GT car besides a very good driver. Those Recaros are sweet. And it comes stock with a free winter tire/wheel setup.
My Build thread... More LT1 stuff here: LT1-V8 versus the SS and Mustang GT, can the LT1 save the Camaro?

Theoretically, a Challenger/Charger sounds like a good option but I would have serious reservations about long-term reliability. The V8 engines are reliable, but nearly everything surrounding those engines is junk.

since you already have 2 V8s why not a loaded 2.0T or V6 as a commuter car? not only would purchase price be cheaper but you could run regular gas in the v^.

I’d go with an auto lt1 with the Bose for a more enjoyable ride or a 2lt v6 camaro for great gas mileage and all the goodies

Coming from a well upgraded Mustang EcoBoost Premium - pushing mid-high 12s, I would rather slam my dick in a door than drive it again.
