5th gen platform and parts issue
I'm wondering what platform is the 5th gen based on and what other GM cars are/will be based on it. Do you have any information about that? Can't find it on the 'net.
I'm asking mostly because I'm not sure if Camaro's going to be available for sale in Europe, and it's all about parts availability when anything goes wrong. Having a few different cars based on the same platform with at least 1-2 of them available through normal sale in Europe means having at least some of the parts available on-the-shelf, without the need to freight them over the ocean. And that would be really great for us, europeans. Oh, and the platform doesn't of course have to be Chevrolet brand/marque exclusive -- it would be even better if it was used somewhere outside it, like in GM Daewoo Europe cars or Opel ones, as these cars are widely available here and known for moderate prices |

The Camaro is based on the Zeta platform. The Pontiac G8 and holden monaro/Vauxhall HSV are also Zetas if I'm not mistaken.

Thanks! Dug a bit and...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zeta_platform looks promising, at least knowing that there'll be some Vauxhalls in UK |

i was really liking the G8 at the Dallas auto show.even more when they talked about the GXP version coming out soon.I like it so much i almost ran out and bought one,but if i did that i wouldnt be able to get a camaro. When it comes to the garage its like highlander, there can only be one.i wouldn't dream of leaving EITHER of those out in the cold all night.
