Any good 1/4 mile is like 130 to 250 miles away.
The problem with that is everyone has different requirements and taste.

We are always happy to consult with you one on one and get you your perfect set up.

I had thought about getting a drag pack, but I just can't justify it for the amount of time I would go to the track. Instead, I am going to get some tires that will be ok on the street or strip...probably the Nitto 555R or the MT's.

I agree with Drsagacity about the G2's. I went from running 555R to G2's on my 5th Gen and they were the worst, couldn't grip for anything. I mean even at 50 if I hit it would break loose. The reason I changed was my car was a DD (under 600 hp) and I guess I left the 555R's on too long and went into a bad spin in the rain on the Interstate doing 40mph. Plan on putting the 555R's on my 6th Gen once I get compatible rims. They hook pretty good, offer a smooth ride and aren't bad on the street. Just need to watch the tread, 70 miles a day for 11 months was way too long without replacing them.

The problem I discovered is nobody makes a DR in a 305/30. If I go with a 305/35 and my currently front @ 275/35 will cause the Stablitrack / abs whatever to go bizerk because the diameter between front and rear are too far apart. So like Drsagacity I would have to change my front as well. :(

Toyo makes a R888 in a 305/30. It's a R compund so it will night and day better then a street tire.

yeh but they're over 400 a pop. I just disable TC/Stabilitrac whenever I turn on the car with the 305/35 555r. Which you would have to do anyway to allow the eLsd to give you access to all your HP. Not a big deal.
I tried driving without turning them off just to see what would happen...
Def won't be doing that again.

And? What is 800.00 for tires when you spend 10-20k to make more HP? If you can't put the power to the ground it's pointless.

I could see tire cost coming into play if you routinely track the car and go through tires a lot. In that case you would be best served to drop down to a smaller wheel. Ideally you want more sidewall then what a 30 series offers. 35 minimum and 40-45 series would be ideal for higher horsepower cars. Height and side wall make the biggest difference for straight line traction.

This was my original plan. I was just going to run these, or the Hoosier R7 on the street. I know that others have tried the toyo at the track and simply didn’t cut it.

As a result, I am thinking I will switch to 19’s, go with the Nitto 555R’s and then just sell my current tire setup. . .or wait and add the Toyos or Hoosiers on rear for the street and use the 19’s for the quarter mile runs. I am absolutely not a fan of disabling any sort of stablitrak setup.

I am betting I can get really close to a 9 second slip with the 19in wheels and some 555R’s.

I have posted in this multiple times. I have not seen anyone use these tire on the quarter mile track. I probably put 4000-5000 miles on the Camaro per year since I only take it for local driving around town...I really wanted the Hoosiers to work. I figured if they were good for autocross they have toys doe everything the car can throw at them, right?

My guess is that they won’t be very strong at the drag strip.

R7 is not streetable IMO. The R888 are barely but are.

I didn’t realize you had run the R7’s. Did you ever run them for the quarter mile?

Once these wear out I'll put Nt05s on for normal street use, and get a set of 19/18 F14s w/10.5x27" hoosiers for the strip and fri/sat nights.

I've only run 555R, my bro has a $$$$ turbo 6 Boxter (I think they are 265 35 R19) and he runs 888R on the street. As I said IMO, (based on just looking at the tread), the R7 is not streetable as in a mist would cause hydroplane, the 888R have very deep grooves and while not "fine", could would care get you home in a drizzle. Hence I said IMO the 888R is barely streetable. I have a tendency to disagree with Ted, I loved the 555R, but don't think it is going to hook on my street driven ride. Since the 888R and the Nitto drag radial feature the same compound. I think it will be better at hook vs the 555R.

As an aside the 888R's tread looks a bit like the Dierezza II that I run on my Type R. And yes that tire is OK in the rain.
