Sounds like you're on the right track, I'd assume a short somewhere because it's immediately blowing fuses. I'm gonna see if I can find those wiring schematics for you

Evansa22, thank you! I will study them tonight. Much appreciated.
The day I have been waiting for has arrived, it’s on the frame table. Took it to an old friend of mine from high school days who owns one of the best body shops in town. You know they’re good when they are next to a McLaren dealership… should know more in a day or two. Last edited by Sephx1; 08-04-2022 at 10:36 PM. |

Looks like I may have found the problem for the car not starting. When air bags get deployed and things related to the SIR system get disabled or disconnected, the car becomes disabled. Also the side curtain airbags in the Gen 6 are sensitive to deployment. You can read more about these here:
https://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/20...ing-the-party/ Also, when I dropped the car off at the body shop I was told that often times they have electrical issues like this but once everything is restored it returns to normal. Hoping this is the case. I’ve removed the curtain airbags, the seats, and the seat belts. The car’s Nannies surely don’t like that. On that note, something interesting I noticed early on was that the doors could be unlocked but not locked. Windows could be rolled down but not up unless you put it into service mode by pushing the ignition button for 10 seconds. Apparently GM is trying to help you get out of the car in an emergency. Once I send the airbag module in to be reset these things should go away. |

In the meantime, I thought I would keep myself occupied by bidding on a ZL1 non-1LE here at Copart in Phoenix. Clean title, says front end damage but couldn't find any. Started and ran, probably could have drove it home. It was extremely dirty and I could tell by the label on the windshield that it had been sitting for a very long time. Ran a lot of reports, my guess is that it took a lot of time to clean up the title as it had a theft reported. Who knows, maybe a divorce or something. For the right price it could certainly be brushed off and be a great car right off the lot. However, when the auction went live today the bidding was already at $41,000. I bid to $43,000 and had calculated the fees and taxes to be just under $50k at that amount. Bidding continued and ended at $47k. The total price I calculated with fees and taxes would be $54,498.13. For that, I can shop from a private seller and pay no sales tax which would arguably put me close to where this car sold. No regrets. |

Sorry it took so long to get an update, I didn’t want to just post that I didn’t have any new information. I decided to wait my turn and let these guys get to it when they were ready. They pulled the motor and subframe as they felt it was necessary to replace the strut tower. When they did, they found additional damage to the transmission shifter assembly and transmission mount. Needless to say getting this car at 50% off isn’t going to work out to be a great deal. I’m sure it will be fixed right but will still be a rebuilt title. I guess I’ll be keeping it a long time and that’s okay with me.
